Congrats on your score of candy! I've always loved the the Clark bar, but my #1 spot was filled by the Marathon Bar!!! Man I wish they still made those. YUM!

One of my first memories is of standing in the front yard and watching the Gilbert Shoe Factory across the street burn. Of course the factory being on fire was only about 1/2 as important as the Marathon Bar I was clutching in my hands and enjoying as slowly as I could.

Is the clark bar like the nestle crunch, but with peanuts instead of rice crispies?

or

David L. Clark opened his small candy business in Pittsburgh in 1886. He did everything including manufacturing, selling, delivering and bookkeeping.

By 1917, when the US entered World War I, the D. L. Clark Company was making many types of candies. Soldiers liked and wanted the popular candy, so that year David Clark came out with his fist five-cent candy bar.

It was originally called simply Clark, but it was the same bar we know today as the Clark bar. The ingredients, honeycombed ground roasted peanuts, covered with milk chocolate, became a favorite as soon as Clark hit the marketplace.

Curly Wurly... site claims they are almost identical. Worth a try

Thanks for the info. I have a friend coming in from the UK in about 6 weeks. I'll make sure that he brings a few along and try them out.

I'll report back then to let you know how they stack up. Of course, finding a shoe factory to set ablaze may prove difficult, so I can't be sure that the experience will really be the same. ;)
