Amy Rocks!!!!

I suggest you ask about Lidoderm patches. They may not be the complete answer but should help a bit to releave the surrounding tissue/muscle pain.

Avoid Oxycontin. If Vicodin makes you nauseous then Oxycontin will probably have you retching. Phenogrin works well for general nausea. Carisipridal works decently well for a general muscle relaxant, could help too. As an extended release pain med Morphine sulfate ER seems to work well for me.

I have had a migraine for coming up on five years straight. I have a degenerating disc at c4, c5 but all the doctors say its not the cause of the problem. Had a 15k surgery in June that wasn't covered by insurance. Add to that my Grandpa just dying, my Mom needing one of my kidneys, and the wife being pregnant, things are just wonderful...

I live in Houston I might be able to help a bit with things locally if you need it.

IamT, thanks for the good info. If Oxycontin is worse than Hydrocodone, then I want to stay clear. The Hydrocodone (same as Vicodin as you obviously know) went beyond nausia last night. I can't even describe what it did to me. I did get nauseous (very fast) and thought I was going to start retching, but instead had some sort of weird nervous attack at the sink that lasted about 20 minutes - broke into a sweat, heaving and crazy shakes. Not as painful as the back, hip, leg and knee pains. But, very unsettling. Don't want to do that again. I think I had that happen with Hydrocodone before when I had knee surgery. It was very unsettling then. I actually wrote a note on the bottle that I might be allergic to it or something. But, I still had the bottle and the pain from my back associated pains wasn't being helped by aspirin, Tylenol, Exedrin, Advil or Aleeve. So, I gambled with some older Hyrdocodone. I was hoping maybe I had been wrong and whatever episode I had after my knee surgery was from something else.
The Hydrocodone was working for a couple of days with just nausea. The reduction in pain it was providing was worth the nausea until last night. After last night, I am pretty positive that the reaction was from the Hydrocodone. I don't understand why I didn't have that reaction every time I took it. But, no matter - twice was more than enough. Now I think I will have to pass on Hydrocodone (Vicodin).

It sounds like you have WAY to much experience with pain meds. Sorry to hear. I hope I don't have get that knowledgeable. :(
If so, I might have to reference some of the above info and maybe contacts as well.

I figured somebody could put my problems to shame.

I think you need to call Amy - Amy's sunshine makes you "right as rain". ;)

"I figured somebody could put my problems to shame."

Nothing doing with that. I may have a long duration but without being in your shoes, and you in mine, I don't honestly think there can be any comparisons. Besides, right now, I would guess you win hands down.

Just as a precaution, is that Hydrocodone expired? Expired meds can get bad. The scariest thing to happen to me so far is The Wife saying, "We are pregnant." The second scariest is having a ten minute grand maul seizure. We do not really know the cause but the only thing we could track it down to was an expired bottle of nausea medicine. I can not imagine having to do through that on a somewhat regular basis. I couldn't legally drive for six month and mostly forgot how to. Learning to drive again in Houston rush hour sucks...:foot:

I will say some prayers for you, at the vary least they can't hurt.

..... is that Hydrocodone expired? Expired meds can get bad.

.... ummm yeah.. Busted. :(

But, I am pretty sure I had a very similar reaction when the Hydrocodone was a new prescription. I just wasn't 100% positive the reaction was from the Hydrocodone at the time as I was having to take other meds at that time. I was about 75% sure it was Hydrocodone the first time. I justified "Trying" Hydrocodone again as other pain meds were not doing anything and I needed some relief even at risk of nausea. I was nervous about having a "Bad" reaction like I did when taking after knee surgery. But, for some reason, all I had was nausea for the first 4 or so pills. I didn't enjoy the nausea, but the relief of some of the pain was worth it.
The last time I took the Hydrocodone (Saturday), I actually didn't take any other meds with the Hydrocodone except dinner (.... and some wine :o ). But, still, I have to believe there must be about a 98% or better chance that I am just not compatible with Hydrocodone - expired or not.

In any event, I won't be using Hyrdocodone again.

The scariest thing to happen to me so far is The Wife saying, "We are pregnant."

I get nervous thinking of that possibility for myself someday. Our window is narrowing fast as I am about 40 and wife is 38. Currently, I think my wife still wants kids. I am around friends and family with kids all the time and while I can appreciate many of the GREAT benifits and joys associated with having kids, I can't help but see how life gets turned upside down "living" for kids. My current life even with the problems I do have, is still at least somewhat peaceful.

The second scariest is having a ten minute grand maul seizure.

I didn't know what that was. So, I had to look it up. That does sound scary. I wouldn't call what I had quit like that. It was a bad experience and scary, but I didn't pass out.

Thanks for your well wishes.
