An ABUNDANCE of snow!

Great Photos

I grew up in Chicago and we had winters like that..

I do not miss the cold--but damn that looked like a fun hike

Thanks for posting

That sure is pretty.
Nice photos, nice knife and the best of traveling companions...no complaining about his lack of footwear.
Did the wind blow much during most of this snow fall...maybe from the northwest?
Lots of build-up on one side of those tree trunks.
I'm envious.
I have 5 acres of snow-covered ponderosa here (all up hill!) and I have a hard enough time getting my aged carcass to all 4 corners this time of year.
Thanks for sharing.
Maybe my two girls (our German Shepards) will be thanking both of us tomorrow after a little hike to the river and back.

Awesome pics! These are my favourites. (<-<- canadian spelling) That looks like a terrific time and place you experienced.

Awesome pictures Mike. Those tree shots and the sun stars through the snow are just wonderful. I haven't had the opportunity, or need to dawn snow shoes yet this year but your post makes me imagine doing so. Great stuff!

Wow. Some of the best pictures I've seen on the forum. Really, truly amazing. Did you happen to run into the Winter Warlock (from the rudolph movie)? Looks like a place he'd hang out.

Wow Mike. I would love to run around in 4' of snow! Absolutely beautiful pics bro!!

AMAZING. That looks so beautifull. A great day im sure. I saved some of your pics to my Scenery file.

Thanks Mike!

The snow is primarily plastered to the north and north-northwest sides of the trees. It stopped after the last storm, leaving all of that pristine coverage.

Thanks for the comments, gents. I'm sure you guys would have loved it. I was out again today and came across a group of six huge wild turkeys, just hanging out in a clearing. Could have been an impromptu feast, though I think that the group of them outweighed me by a fair bit, so I'm not sure who would have been doing the feasting.

All the best,

- Mike

Amazing pictures mentor

i went for my first real outing yesterday and other than falling in a creek a couple minutes into the hike it was awesome.

So that's where all my snows run off to! Beautiful woods you have there, looks like a great place to spend some time and catch some Zzzzz's.

WOW!! Those are some fantastic photos! Thanks for sharing, I may have to steel a couple for my desk top :) . I really can see how easy it would be to get turned around out there

Here's a short video from the other day. Nothing spectacular, but you get a sense of the peace and stillness of the forest. One of these days I'll learn how to properly embed video ...
