An Afternoon With A Little Knife & A Little Woods time, With My Little Girl.

I have to get my 4.5 year old daughter out in the woods. She loves watching the survivor shows (no hall monitors please) with me and, although she is 100% girl, she would love being out there and I would love to teach her those skills. Man, I have to get off my duff this spring.

I've always loved taking my girls to the woods. At a young age it's awesome because their little minds can see and take in so much and they can put all that excess energy to use climbing, running in the open space, carrying things and "building" stuff. It's a great bonding experience too!

Nice pics man, looks like you two had fun..Those izulas are really popular around here, i dont know weather or not i should get an izula or becker necker..not sure yet.
I have both and the most common complaint about the becker is the handle. The Izula is a pretty comfy design.

Thanks for the little review of the Izula Mistwalker. I love mine. Cute girl.

Handle shape is why I settled on the Izula after a lot of looking and thinking. After yesterday I'm really happy with my decision.

Thanks man, glad you liked it. Yeah...she's cute...until she gets tired and grumpy...not sure where she gets that from ;)

Looks like a great time! My son is 6 and absolutely loves when I pick up my Woodsman. He knows it's time to go outside and get dirty.

I can't believe I have forgotten about those cans of tuna! Thanks for joggin the memory.

I love to see her eyes light up when I start getting "our stuff" together.

Yeah they make great impromptu small meals...need to pick up a few more today while I'm out.

Looks like a good day to me. Glad you were able to spend time with your daughter like that. Some of my nieces love going out and doing this kind of thing. Thinking I should take them out more this Spring and summer.

Did you see the new BK11/Izula hybrid that Kabar is making with ESEE? I personally prefer the blade on the BK11 so I'll be getting one when I can to have the best of both. ;)

The general consensus seems to be that the Becker has the better blade, and the Izula has the better handle. You don't even have to make a choice, really, because there is a collaboration between ESEE (RAT) and Becker coming out just after the Blade show. Becker Necker blade, with the Izula handle. Apparently they're going to call it the Brat (no, really, they are).

I'm down for one.

I saw the pics of that. I gotta say I like the blade on the Izula more. It has more of a point but the becker has the longer blade. If the blade on the Izula was 3 inches instead of 2 1/2 I think it would be just about perfect.

I think the Izula does have a better point, but over all, I like the Becker blade better. I think the Izula has a better handle, though, so when the new Brat comes out, I'll snap one up. Best of both worlds, IMHO.

Thanks, it was a great day. No, I haven't seen it yet, but I'll look it up and check it out.

I like the hanlde on the Izula and I like the blade. The HEST fills the 3 inch blade slot for me though. I have two so if I ever reeeeally want an Izula with a 3 inch blade I'll just mod a HEST handle...but so far I like 'em just they way they are...all of them.

I still may want to pick up one of those "BRATs" though.

G'day Brian

Hullo Mick,

Thanks, glad you liked the post!

Sorry to hear you're taking a break, but I guess it would do us all some good to take a break from the net now and then and get out and about more. I'll miss your posts from Oz though.

Take care down there!!

.

Almost missed this pretty thread.
You had a good time and thanks for sharing it.
To be added that little blade is also cool.

Thanks Fujita, glad you enjoyed the thread, we really enjoyed the day out.

Yeah, and after that day out I like the Izula even more than I expected too, it's an awesome little blade, more comfortable than I thought it would be.
