An afternoon with the 'chax (PIC HEAVY!)

Holy hell! I thought I was through only one that did that forearm technique. I used it to skin a squirrel with a machax and was so proud of myself for thinking of it. Dammit. leave it to moose to rain on my parade. but if you tie a loose knot in the lanyard the whole knife becomes abduction extension of your arm. awesome pics

Edit nevermind you have yer knot.

Great post Thrillbilly!
Love the pics.....artsy fire/burning fuzzies!
Cheers

Moose posted pics awhile back of the forearm lanyard technique....Im not sure where though. I saw them and tried it once or twice, then kinda forgot about it until his class. It's a great tip.

I dont have a knot, I use a 550 ''bead'' on my lanyards, so I don't have a loop dangling to snag on things when it's sheathed.

Great pictures, thanks for sharing. Hopefully more people will realize the utility of the Machax.
I sanded the coating down on my ESEE-4 when I still had it. It's pretty surprising how much it improved cutting performance.

Lovee the looks of that 4, Every time I login here I learn something new, now I need to go try that forearm lanyard.

Nice update Thrill! That tree never stood a chance against you and the Machax!:D

BTW, I really liked the pics of the charred wood.

thanks, fresh cut green sapling dont burn well, even when feathersticked...all I got was smoldering and smoke LOL

I can't believe I missed the moose instruction . I was actually screwing around with the machax and my favorite about it is it is 3 knives in one. you have the ricasso for fine work, the recurve and belly for chopping but I couldn't figure out the tip, until I held it like your did in your pic and I figure out the lanyard trick. now I see its the ultimate survival knife

I may have to send it to you to repair my tip if I cant get it back sharp and pointy on my own! LOL rounded it just a hair, but I have some of it back, just need to work on it some more.

The 'chax is very versatile.....would be a GREAT knife to keep in a bush-plane or strapped to a BugOutBag
