An arresting experience

Good for you bloke! Glad "we" won this round'!
And as for 'you', 18 post person, you're sure loud and unfriendly!
(no attacks, just felt "choked" after reading 'his/her' tread)

Yes!!

Good to hear that it went alright!
I was holding my thumbs here in Sweden since i read your post, which made it kinda difficult to play with my knives...

I don't want to think if i would've ended up in the same siuation! i probably would be jailed and fined.

But that's Sweden! which otherwise is a perfectly lovely country, come visit!

Be well! / Jonas aka 2Sharp

Two important questions in life:
Do they have a catalog?
Did you know there's a town called "Batman" in Turkey?

2sharp! You were "holding your thumbs" ??? This is a new expression for me! Is it like "keeping your fingers crossed" here in the USA?

Aint the internet grand???!!

Can it core a apple?

Every time i read a thread like this one i ask myself why the americans call the usa the land of the free. And sometimes, if it gets too crazy, i laugh myself half to death about them hippocritical laws over there. I think you have to change something to the better and do it fast before them politicians take away the last rights you have left.
What is wrong in drink a beer in public or wearing a pocket knive where it belongs by its name?
And, xxxx, maybe sometimes it is not the people who are wrong, but the laws.

Achim, you kinda hit where it hurts. It seems that we are more interested in protecting the rights of rapists, bank robbers... Here in Florida an inmate can expect to serve about half his term.

But if I wanted to I could move to a state where I would not be bothered so much. I live in what I call the "City of Southeast Florida". It is a natural magnet for con artists and lowlifes with it's large population of elderly and warm temperatures. The cops really do have their hands full in most parts. As soon as my education is complete (December) I plan on hitting the trail. Maybe I'll take protoolman's advice and move to the wide open spaces of Montana.

But I can't see living in any other country, except maybe Australia. Every place has its problems. Of course I do envy you the Autobahn, I have just the car for it. I was thrilled when the local interstate raised the limit to 65. Sigh.

Remember Achim, no one and no place is perfect.

It seems to me that you need to consult with a lawyer. I think that you get more respect from judges if you do. As his wife is a lawyer, you could check with James Mattis. You could easily get the charge reduced, possibly dismissed. Wear a suit. Get a haircut. Plead ignorance if possible. Was there a posted sign about drinking in public? Take pictures. Automatic knives are legal in Florida, I believe.

AchimW,

"I think you have to change something to the better and do it fast before them politicians take away the last rights you have left."

I was in Germany(Hamburg) two summers ago. I didn't exactly find myself in a state of utopia. I'm not knocking your country. Of the 5 European countries I've been to, Germany was one of my favorites. I had a lot of fun during my short stay. There are some laws here that are kind of ridiculous, but I think what you said is a little drastic.

Hello!

I really didn't want to offend someone with my post, but, believe it or not, a lot of the facts i know about the laws and the system in the usa was the main reason which kept me from visiting your obviously beautiful country yet. Maybe part of it is the problem with the different laws in the different states so you never can be shure if something is legal or not because you have just passed an overseen state border. This doesn't exist here in germany. Even for europe the european central court has forced all the countries of the european union to get their laws equal within five years, so people living wherever from sweden to spain will face equal rights whenever there are problems.

P.S.:
I am an ABS apprentice member and if i don't overcome my aforementioned problems i won't have the possibility to pass the journeyman test one day. And now let's talk knives!
