An article about my knives in my local paper...

Nice writeup. They're right about your site too. I've spent a lot of time reading through the tutorials and so forth on there, and it's been very helpful. I certainly appreciate the time you put into providing content like that.

Killer news Salem - we're just glad to see you landed on the upper section of page A11 rather than that lower half!!

Congrats on what you and family have built. Keep living the dream. Best to you buddy.

Thanks a bunch guys. Andy, it's been quite some time now since I've been in the lower half of page 11... I like it that way!

Crimson, I'm glad you've gotten some use out of my ramblings.

That's awesome Salem, congratulations!!! :)

It's nice to see the press spotlighting knives in a positive way rather than villainizing them like many sheeple do.

Sweet feature Salem. Congratulations.

And by the way; I second the positive comments about your tutorials. They are great.

Brian

Very cool article Salem. I do wish that they had shown more photos of your completed knives... but they got the idea across.
I did spend a few minutes reading through the names in "Cops & Courts"... just to see if I knew anyone in there. ;)

Nick, I grew up in Tonasket and still have a lot of family there. The mentality in the Okanogan Valley (and the east side of the state in general) is refreshing after living in the Seattle area for the last decade. Folks over there -- and I'm sure that I'm generalizing -- know where their meat comes from and understand that a knife is a tool.
I'm not even sure that a Prius could make it up Salem's driveway :p... I lost a hubcap on my Subaru when I attempted it. :D

Erin is right, the mentality here is a lot different than the "coastie" side of the mountains. We are rugged and individualistic mountain people, sportsmen, lovers of the outdoors. Or at least we like to think so. We have both hippies and rednecks here, but rednecks that eat organic and hippies who own chainsaws and drive big 4WD trucks...

Did you find that hubcap? I forgot about that.

Nope... but the Subaru wasn't much to look at to begin with. ;)
I actually think that I lost it somewhere along the backroads between your place and Oroville... the road gets pretty gnarly through there if you drive like a coastie.
