Been housebound today due to the 7 inches of rain we just got from this blasted Nor'easter, so I figured I'd take the time to wipe down some knives and snap some pictures. This is an assortment of Schrade Cutlery Co stamped knives, plus one Walden (I'm sure you'll spot it).

I believe this one's the oldest here. It's a split spring sleeveboard with the arched tang stamp which I believe should put it somewhere between 1904 and 1917.

This is an easy open jack #2013 (someone let me know if I've got any of these model #'s wrong).

A CutCo Barlow, not exactly sure of the number on this but it looks like a #2157 3/4 minus the bolster stamp.

A jigged stag bone #2153

I'm going to continue this on the next post before I max-out the pictures....

Above is a Schrade Cut. Co. jack #2063 bone stag handles. Large blade still has a faint etch but all I can make out is ...STEEL.

Another jack #2062 3/4 with ebony handles (although they could be cocobola, very dark brown).

Nice collection, Eric! I especially like those last two, the teardrop jacks! A righteous pair:thumbup: !

Very nice collection there Eric, love the first two, even that 20T, Drool!

Kris,
Tell you what, I'll trade em all for a turkey beard:D :D ;) Seriously folks, thanks for the compliments. I'm really drawn to these older knives, pocketworn bone and all. They have a hell of a lot of character, and they're damned nice to look at too.

Eric I've been trying to figure out what one of the barlows I have is because the tang stamp is gone it looks a lot like your cut co barlow. But I also saw a camillus the other day that looked similar to both. what do you think.-Joel

Joel,
The spring pins on all of the Schrade barlows I've seen are centered on the handle. Pin configurations like yours are found on a lot of European barlows, like Wostenholm and Bokers, but the threaded bolsters are a problem with that. There was a cutlery in PA named Wolfertz that had an identical setup to yours, but the barlow I have has a long nail nick. I'm still looking though. So far Wolfertz is the closest. You could also try the Bernard Levine forum, he's a heck of an expert.
Eric

It looks more like a Camillus than a Schrade. I am going to have to dig through my Barlows. TTYL.

Here's the one I was thinking of Joel. In this TipTop by Camillus, the rivet placement appears to be the same, and the blades, what's left of each, could be the same. The bone and bolsters are close too.

Thanks waynorth looks pretty darn close to me. somebody must of carried and used the heck out of this knife to wear the bolsters clean and the tang stamp.-Joel

Wow, that's looking good , nice match Charlie.

Eric

I don't think the bolsters were ever stamped on yours, because all the TipTops I've seen are real deep into the bolsters!. But I've seen those crossed sword tangstamps where they are very shallow. I have one that is half worn off.

That's a great example of having one of every knife manufactured (I wish!). Every illustration I've seen of Camillus bone barlows; Codger's and a Tip Top on page 74 of The Big Book of Pocket knives are two, including some photo examples, all have a long nail pull on the master. And here's Charlie with a nail nick Tip Top. Very nice.

I wish too, Eric. Just lucky on that one I guess.
I suspect every variation of every knife would have me sleeping in a tent, so there'd be room in my house to keep them dry:eek: !
Of course my wife would have left me long ago, so it'd be cold out in that tent:grumpy: !!:D :D :D
