I cant post pictures, alas.
My favorite is an old full sized Plum single bit. Though it was new when I bought it.
When I was a teenager we lived in an old farmhouse. It came with a wood furnace in the basement and a forty acre woodlot. One of my chores was to cut trees, turn them into logs, drag the logs home (the horse did the hard work), buck them and stack them.
We owned a chain saw, which saw occasional use. But listing to a chain saw wrecks a nice day in the woods. I mostly used the axe. It wasnt just quieter, it was safer. Good exercise, too. And I was building useful skills.
I sometimes use the chain saw bucking the logs. More often I used one of those five foot, one or two man saws. The kind with an optional vertical handle on the far end. I already knew how to use a handsaw. It was still good exercise.
I still have that axe. Its been years since I needed to cut firewood. But that old Plum is still up to the job.
