An Edge

I have a question and wondering if anyone can lead me into the right direction. I am making some broadheads and was wondering if there is a company out there that will put a edge on them for me? Thanks!

That sounds strange. You are making broadheads but don't sharpen them? Sounds like one fellow I know who said he made knives but never sharpened one. Frank

I'm just a hobbyist and don't sell but I still want a good looking final product. I get nervous as heck free hand with course stones especially on thicker edges and knives with plunges lol. NOOO a scratch!

Arrow heads though you might just get one of those machines or devices that do kitchen knives.

How are you making them?

If I were you, I'd just buy a HF 1x30, and handful of belts, and either learn to freehand sharpen, or make a quick jig.

I am having them laser cut. So they are not going to have a edge on it and I wish all I was looking is to sharpen them that would be easy, but I am going to need the whole edge put on them.

how many are you doing? I would agree that you could probably do a good job of it yourself after a few practice runs with a $30 Harbor Freight belt sander and a few belts from maybe 120, 240, 400, 800 and 1200 grit. I'm guessing they aren't very thick that's how I put an edge on knives and it works really well and gets them razor sharp.

Essentially you are wanting to send laser cut blanks to someone to finish them for you? You could probably find someone to make you some broad heads on a different section of this forum, and total cost would probably be less than laser cutting your own steel to send to someone for all the hard work.

The bevels are only step one and can be done with files and a jig if you have some gusto and want to do this on your own. Of course then there is the heat treat. A bit more of an investment if you want to learn about that stage(especially with stainless) but that could be sent out. After the heat treat it would be some sanding and sharpening. It sounds simple in a couple sentences but it's more than it seems. May want to spend a bit of time in the stickies and see what kind of direction you are heading in.

Find a local maker. They should whip an edge on em for you. I put sharp edges on all kinds of stuff that walks through my door.
