An Essay on Britian's Gun Control - By JOYCE LEE MALCOLM

Today is certainly a good occasion to re-read this thread and have a good think on this topic. Everyone can't live next to the police station...

Indeed. I can't remember offhand who it was, but someone said that the main drawback of a democracy is that people tend to get the government they deserve...

And I think that's the very reason incredibly wise old Tom Jefferson said the people should have a revolution every 20 years.

In modern times 'revolution' is defined by limiting the powers of the Federal Government. EVery generation has an obligation to 'trim the bush," except generations and individuals like the WWll crowd which was entrused with saving our asses.

A mocking, derisive, almost affectionate distain for the federal buracracy is neccesary, not for the Constitution and the Country. Government and Country are different things. People need to wake up and realize critizing the government is not critizing America.

I bought three flags on the fourth, gave two away and put mine in my truck. (for those who know this is improper handling for an official flag I apologize. )

Next time I'm in Reno I'll have to see if the flag store carries the Jolly Roger. I'll let you know the price and shipping to England, Tom Holt! It'd look good flying over your smithy there.

Thanks, but I've already got a flag... Two, in fact. I'm sitting typing this under the stars & stripes, and next to it is a red flag - not *that* red flag, it's the range flag from the Colyton Rifle & Pistol Club, which I liberated when the club got shut down.

The two of them are there to remind me; one reminds me of freedom lost, the other that freedom still exists somewhere, for the time being.

Dang it Rusty; I wish I'd thought of the Jolly Rodger!

as for flags, though, the Union Jack still must mean something.

political correctness can't let the Union Jack stand...they'll change it for sensitvity to the, "Jack and Jill. I wonder what will happen to our stars and stripes...
