An excess of Blacklip

I have put myself into a bit of a pridicament. I bought some blacklip sight unseen in one of those moments of thinking I had more cash than I do. Now I have 50 sets of scales 2 1/4" X 1" and a womping bill to pay. About 13 sets are absolutely incredible and about 12 sets are pretty well worthless with the remaining set being somewhere in between. While I love using blacklip having this much is a bit excessive. I have no idea how to grade this stuff for sale so I am not sure how to go about selling some off. Anybody have any suggestions.
Thanks

Send it to me for disposal.
Actually. you have figured it out part way. I would sell the pieces you say are worthless in say 3 lots in the for sale area with a true description. Could maybe be used for small spacers. insets, small folders etc if parts are solid. The in between I would list the same way, but maybe smaller lots. Sell of part of the nice stuff set at a time. Good honest descriptions and photos plus a willingness to discuss the sets in question over the phone with a sincere buyer should take care of it. I might be willing to get some of the bad stuff just for to learn with. I would like to try a small folder with black lip. I have done some that are pretty small. Scales 2" x3/4. Could do, say even 1/2 black lip 1/2 ivory.

Divide them into groups of five sets. Have a good pair , a bad, and three average per group. Take good photos of each group. Post them in the "For Sale: Knife Making Supplies & Tools" forum. ( http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=765 )

Pick a price that will make someone want to buy the bad set with the good ones.

If you are wanting to keep the 13 good ones and sell the lower quality sets, then just make groups with a mix of the qualities you are disposing of, and price them to sell fast.A good formula would be to take the total you paid for the batch and multiply it by .5. That would have you paying half of the batch price for the best ones, and the other half would be what you can try to recoup. So if you made up seven batches to sell, price each batch at .07 times the total you spent.

sight unseen it is a bit hard for me to say, however some material every one will agree is good some everone will agree is not so good. Just holding out a hope to you is some makers may like what you do not. I learn that talking to makers for years som like dark wood some like light somelike synthetic materials.

If you can't sell it on this forum try ebay. I often see materials on there I would like to buy but don't have the money for. If you start you individual auctions at the price you want it can only go up or not sell. Good luck with it.

If it is in the rules let us know where you post it so we can have a look to see if we want some.
