Swiss Army Knives are cool; we can all acknowledge that. My dad never cared for them though so naturally I never cared for them. Awhile back I got an Alox model in and was pretty impressed with it. I tried the Cadet and Pioneer but I was pretty big into a more modern knife. My taste have recently changed and I'm carrying more slipjoints again. I'm finding I really enjoy a slipjoint and a small fixed blade. I see what all you guys do with your SAK and I thought to myself I need to really give the SAK a try. Not just a day or two but for a month. So the month of April I will pocket a SAK everyday and at the end of the month will make the determination if it will stay in my pocket or not. :)

I received the knife yesterday and carried it. After opening the package it helped to open other packages as well. The Awl was very useful for that. Here's a shot of it today at work. I'm really enjoying the pocket clip attachment to it.

I'll try to include shots of it in use as the month goes on.

The TEC P7 pocket clip is the best accessory for a SAK. I do not even notice I am carrying my knife anymore.

That's what I noticed yesterday as well as today. Really enjoying it.

Needed a screw driver; started to go to the utility room to grab one when I realized what was in my pocket.

A Pioneer for one month ? That won´t be a big problem - are planing additional knives to the Pioneer or will this be your only one?

Nevertheless - a great choice for a nice challenge ;)

Saks are so dang handy that no matter what else I am carrying I always have one on me. People friendly, extra utility, saks offer a lot while being fairly inexpensive. Good luck and have fun with your new sak.

Pioneer for a month? Careful, one thing leads to another, and before you know a month turns into a decade+ ... Ask me how I know... :)

Be very careful! If you discover the unspoken truth, that a SAK is really the only pocket knife uyou really need, it could change your life. If I wasn't such a total knife knut, I'd only own a selection of SAK's. Maybe with a few small Leathermans tossed in.

Spoken well and true!

I carry a cybertool 41 and use it three or four times a week. I am going to have to get the pocket clip for it.

What got me turned onto Vic Alox knives was an extended business trip I had to go on a couple of years ago. Since I was flying, it would have to be something I could put in my checked luggage that I wouldn't cry about too much if it turned up missing. I bought a silver Alox Electrician (Pioneer variant) for the trip, figuring that it was under $30 and easily replaced, and wouldn't have any particular value to make it worth stealing.

Being on the road away from your normal array of tools makes you really appreciate what you do have with you. That Electrician came in handy a number of times and I was really glad I bought it before the trip. I think you'll find by carrying it every day that at the end of that month it will have become a permanent fixture. Me depending on that Electrician every day certainly caused me to "bond" with it.

When I got back I decided to try the smaller Alox Cadet as well, and that one has worked so well for me that I have carried it every day since I bought it. I may carry other knives in addition to the Cadet, but the Cadet is always in my right pocket.

This awl is one handy tool. Used this while sending some packages out this morning.

A SAK for a month?? I've been carrying one (a Tinker or Deluxe Tinker) for years. SAKs rule!

My EDC blade for about 15 or 20 years has been a Benchmade 401-S or a 401, clipped inside waistband in appendix position. Also during that time, a SAK Classic in my right front pocket. I have found over the years that I use the Classic way more than I use the Benchmade.

When I was a kid and very over impressed with myself, I would always wonder why all those old guys carried those little pen knives. I mean, just what are ya going to do with that tiny thing???

It wasn't until I got much older and hopefully wiser, that I learned they may have been smarter than I thought. :o

Now the past decade, my little classic has been used more than any other knife I had on me. Except for my Case peanut, of course!:D

I may or may not have a locking folder in addition to my SAK, but I never walk out of the house without my Tinker or Farmer in my pocket.
