An Experiment; A month with a SAK in my pocket.

See if it will stay in pocket after a month? Good luck getting it out. I started carrying an alox Pioneer or Farmer in my pocket daily about 2 years ago and have all but quit carrying any other slipjoint. The awl for goofy/random tasks, the cap lifter for brews, the perfect size stainless blade, the cap lifter for brews... ;)

My main SAK since receipt last year.

Btw, that pocket clip is sweet. What is it?

As said, the mighty SAK is in reality the only pocket knife you'll ever truly need to have. I never leave home without either my Pioneer or Farmer - I mean NEVER. When I often list my "What you totin' today?" pocket contents here on the Forum that may vary a bit amongst a couple favorites, but one that I generally stopped bothering to mention is that there's ALWAYS (ALWAYS!) the Farmer in a horizontal belt sheath on my right hip, regardless of what's in my pockets. It's just part of my pants. I'm as likely to go out the door without my pants as to leave without that Farmer. It's that handy.

I once saw the production figures for Victorinox and was absolutely blown away. I don't recall the figure, but the monthly figure was amazing. I bet they sell more knives than all other makers on Earth combined. You'll not wonder why once this month is up...

Good luck with your SAK for a Month odyssey! Report back with your findings of course :D

Tec P7 Accessory Clip is what I think it's called.

If you're talking about Brock's knife...That's a S Biner I believe.

This is a P7 clip on my Trail Guide:

Thank you for clarifying. I was being lazy in not quoting the photo before. It looks like there are a couple of different clips. What is the one below?

Sometimes it's "awl" you need.......

Thanks again for the info

^^SAK guy I just love your photos man. That old worn red alox is just to die for, and of course the purpose for the awl blade is most noble ;)

Be very careful! If you discover the unspoken truth, that a SAK is really the only pocket knife uyou really need, it could change your life. If I wasn't such a total knife knut, I'd only own a selection of SAK's. Maybe with a few small Leathermans tossed in.

I have found that to be true as well. Other than the convenience of one handed opening, a swiss army is all I really ever need. The other knives are wants :D

After having already gone more than half my life with SAK or SAK type multi-tools, I was set for life with a Swisschamp, I thought, until one day making my first acquaintance with a Leatherman. It was in the hands of a fellow husband, on our own to hang out in the outdoors while the wives were involved in their musical organization's annual get-together at a woodsy venue. He was using the PST to makeshift some fishing gear for himself and his grandson, and as I watched the guy perform various tasks with the different implements, I could see right away this was yet another easily carried knife/tool with a step up in capability compared to my SAK, especially pliers. While there were more functions on the 'champ, it seemed as if the PST were more capable of serious work. The guy told me his MP son had been issued a PST, and was so enthusiastic about it that he gifted his dad with one. Okay, another testimonial.

Back home, I got one, but after a few weeks with it, went back to my SAK, trading off the PST to an electrician friend for what I don't remember. My conclusion was that on balance, I was better served by the tool set on the S'champ. But then I got introduced to the Super Tool. That changed everything. Belt carried, the weight difference was manageable, and that the implements could lock put the multi-tool into another class of utility, as far as I was concerned. Had to have it. The 'champ got relegated to occasional use and the Super Tool was my EDC for the next 9 years, supplemented by a Micra for the scissors and other tools not on the ST.

For a long time - years, in fact - it seemed that every time I carried the ST, I missed my SAK and vice versa.
Then I became a knifeknut, so in the end I've got a bunch of each. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing, but I think I'm happy  .

I like a mix of LM and SAK as well. Sometimes the tools are redundant, but I really like plus scales. Some of the most used items are in the scales, things I would normally not carry with me everyday on their own but have in my SAK. I can carry and use my SAK in town as much as on a hike or camping

Agree, the multitools add another layer of functionality, if you are OK to belt carry.

Mine rides along in the EDC bag or in the car, while a SAK is on my person.

Well guys, at this point it seems that I have lost my SAK. I remember the last time that I placed it in my pocket but I haven't found it since. :(

Awe man that really sucks, I hate the feeling, hopefully it will pop up. At least with SAK knives, they aren't super expensive or rare, unless you get a limited color, so s little easier on the wallet to replace

I haven't lost a knife in forever! I wanted to try carrying it in my watch pocket but it was a little too big and I'm guessing it slid out somewhere along the way. If it doesn't pop up in the next couple of days I will order a replacement.
