Here is something quite different from anything I have done with modifications. These are two GEC Boy's knives that I did some experimenting with.

Zulu Spear Linerless Shadow

The first one started out as a spey bladed #15, that I surface ground (hence no tang stamp), re-ground, and made some drastic changes to the shape of the blade and handle. As you can see, this knife no longer looks anything like a #15 anymore. The scales consist of white g10 liner, thin black g10 spacer, and my home-made red canvas composite. It is difficult to see the black spacer, but it is between the red and white, and sandwiches the white stripe down the center of the handle. I put my etch on the easy-open part of the blade to add a little grip when pinching.

Closed length is 3 3/8"
Extremely light at .75oz. A sinlge blade TC from this last run weighs just over 2oz, just to give you a point of reference.
Blade sits dead center
Pull is around a 5, but still easily pinchable
Walks and talks, and has very smooth action
Drawn swedge down the full length of the blade on both sides
Spring is flush in all 3 positions

Westinghouse Shadow

This one might be even more unique than the last one. The springs are from a 15, but the blades actually came from a GEC #54. These were also surface ground to match perfectly, again, hence the no tang stamps. The tangs took a lot of adjustment to get them to fit with these springs. The main blade is a spear that I thinned out to fit in the handle, and the secondary was a spey blade that I converted into a lambsfoot blade. Both blades are quite thin, and razor sharp. The handles are a brown Westinghouse micarta that I cut so that they would show the end-grain of the slab. My wife thought the handles were wood when I showed her this one. Really cool looking stuff.

Closed length is 3 3/8"
Both blades sit dead center
Pull is around a 4 on both blades
Walks and talks with smooth action
Brass pins and lanyard tube
Stainless Steel liners

$215
