I am like most of you here and rotate EDC's quite a bit but I always seem to come back to a Para2. So I have decided to carry my Para2 for a full year and see how well it holds up. I will use the regular black handle and satin blade standard issue one. I will try and post a pic a day just to see what kind of adventures the Para and me get into. If anyone else has ever carried and used a knife a year or over chime in and tell us about your experience I would love to hear it. Pics of what you carried for the year would be great but not necessary. Wish me luck!

Im thinking about doing something like this, going to trade some blades to get one i really want.

A knife should last more than a year with no issues. In my younger days before I could afford multiple knives I carried a Schrade LB7 for about 6 years before I lost it and it was still in good shape. That was with fairly significant daily use, not like opening envelopes and such that I subject my knives to now!

Very cool idea. I personally don't think I could do it.

If I had to, a Para 2 would be a good candidate though. Big enough for heavy cutting and still simple enough not to freak people out in an office.

Been carrying a Case medium stockman for about a year straight now. Of course, sometimes I have a one-handed opener as well, but the Case is always there.

I carried a Gerber 06 Military for two and a half years. It took major abuse in that time but served me faithfully. I loved looking at all of its scars, chips, scratches, and dings. I sold it to fund other knife purchases and now I'm sad. I'll miss you Ol' Stabby, we shared so many experiences together.

I carried a BenchMade 690 for about 4 years, and then a Caly3 for four years. Both were great, but now I have enough knives, that I like, to be able to change every ten minutes or so. :)
It's like a King and a harem. Why pick just one?

Good luck!
Miracles can happen. :D
I just did the same thing with my Bucklite 422.

Thats a cool idea. There are to many knives out there now a days that I don't think I have the will power to do it. I carried a Microtech Socom made and purchased in '99 for 5 years in college, yes 5 years of college, thats normal now right? It was a Christmas present my first year at school. Carried it everyday was used from everything to opening mail to carving pumpkins, light camping duties. Still have it never had any issues with it. Lock up is still solid no blade play. I was forced into that cause I didn't have any extra money to buy another knife. It still makes it into my pocket every once and a while.

I have wondered about something like that too. Haven't been able to settle on just one knife though.

I have carried a ZT0551 sense its release which will be 2 years this December. It's been a very good companion and a easy knife to carry. I like to use my blades a bit harder so while my Left hand Military was a ideal carry its lateral strength was not enough for my uses. I lost some of that FFG cutting goodness but when sharpened to a respectable angle and sharpness the ZT does well. She wears well too, the stone washed finish shows very little.

I carried my kershaw JYDII CB for at least 3 years. I still have it, its super smooth now. I hardly carry it anymore because I have lots of nice new knives that need use. It holds a very sentimental value to me and I will never get rid of it.

I carried a SOG Flash 2 for 5-6 years. Inexpensive, easy to sharpen, damage doesn't worry me, not the speediest assisted opener. But, I've still got it, carry it once in awhile; the blade has a small chip, but it sharpens up just fine.

What I like about the Flash 2 over any other knife I own, aside from surviving all those years with me and still working fine, is the pocket clip.

The knife disappears completely in the pocket with no butt sticking up saying "Hey, look at me I have a knife!!!!!!" I picked up my first Kershaw Leek the other day, it easily rides 3/4" above the pocket, for me, it's uncarryable (is that a word?) with a pocket clip.

Again I feel like a loser. My Father carried the same knife for 30+ years. He was a cop in Pittsburgh and had carried a Case Texas jack and used it often.
I can't carry the same knife more than a few days. Today we have too many options.

I've carried my emerson mini CQC 7 for a little over 2 years straight. I never had any problems with it other than sharpening it every now and again. The coating got really scratched up and the G10 isnt as grippy as when I first got it, but its still going strong. Its about 6 years old now.

Lately I've been carrying a strider SnG for about the last 6 months without any problems.

I dont see why you couldn't carry that para 2 for the rest of your life. As long as you don't beat the crap out of it and sharpen and clean it regularly, it should last you a life time.

the only knife i have that i have carried for a consecutive year or more, unless you count my Gerber multiplier 400 (5 years), would be my CRKT Hissatsu folder. This was the one of the first steps i took after i grew out of the budK and frost cutlery phase. for a knife in that price range it took quite a beating and never once malfunctioned. the only issues i have ever had with it was my own fault. I opened it up to clean it out and in the process i accidentally bent the little "autolawks" piece inside the knife. the auto lock has never been the same since. It still works, but its a little bit still. I think once i get a greyman satu or chris reeve umnumzaan i will never be able to carry anything else...

I carried a Vic Sentinel w/ clip for 2.5 years. Got dull real fast, but plenty of blade and cheap just in case I would loose it.... Then I saw a ZT302 and bought it the moment I saw it. From there now I have a full ZT collection, spyderco, and Becker line.
