An honest question

BB I've got 15 knives in my edc rotation and 10 of them are in the $300 to $800 range.
I decided about 3 years ago no more safe queens (mostly):o . I went from over 65 knives at the time
to what I have now. I wanted to own and use some of the best knives out there and I have.
Now if I have a day of landscape work planned I don't grab the damascus Sebenza, I usually carry my M2 Grip or the Gayle Bradley.

This first pic is of my BG42 Sebenza right after I sharpenened it with my EP. You can't really tell it has much use on it but the next two pics from a different angle show the knife has been used many times.

Any way just remember buy what you like and like what you buy! It isn't a competition, enjoy your hobby.

Do they cover that in the warranty?

Actually, I bet if you at least had a good story about how that happened (prying a car door at the scene of an accident, etc.), I would imagine Mick probably WOULD cover it...

My Sebenza has plenty of beauty marks on the Ti. I use it daily, but to be honest, the blade isn't really ever gonna show much work being used at work (pharmacy...)

I would suggest that, at least some of the time, this is simply because a lot of the people who buy really expensive customs or mid-techs don't work for a living.

I was going to say something along the same lines. Sadly I think that this is the case. A see too many threads where folks are looking for things to use their knives for.

Oh I'm not saying anything about the knives or people using them at all. I just wanna see some beat up expensive knives. :D

I'm a plumber and do mostly rough in and stack outs. Not a lot of knife use but when I need to cut something I use what I carry which is a large Sebenza. Mostly sleeves, tub boxes, straps, string, scraping glue off myself. I carried an SnG before my Sebenza for a few years when I did commercial construction. I've done it all with my SnG but you could barely tell with it's stone washed finish. While I loved my SnG the short cutting edge plus sharpening notch kept snagging during long cuts. My preferred work knife is a Spyderco Military but sand keeps getting under the liner lock when it's closed making a cringing action when it's time to use. Maybe I'll spring for a Ti Military but I've been fine with the Sebenza, especially being a lefty model.

I am an electrician. I work on jobs in mud, Attics, crawl spaces, basements, rain, snow, shine. My sebenzas don't show much wear after lots of carry. If I have an abusive job I use my razor knife. I don't want to spend time sharpening a chip out of the blade on my sebenzas.

If I need a saw I get a saw, drill I get a drill, hammer a hammer.
Even when carrying a cheaper Kershaw or spyderco I don't abuse and damage my equipment, I never have.

Just because someone doesn't do tough physical work for a living doesn't mean they don't do difficult work. I tried sitting in an office and couldn't do it. Those kinds of jobs are tough in their own way.

My knives show use mostly because I get tape residue built up on the blades. Or my older knives with black anodized handles show wear. I have a pretty old EDC knife that has faded-looking black G10.

I hear that there is a Sebenza somewhere that has cut open over 11 envelopes!
