An informal survey of what men carry when they leave their homes in the morning

Wow thank you sir for the shoutouts!!

Interestingly I was wearing a Kimber Micro 9 when I was reading this.

I like the cut of your jib, Sailor.

I like the holster because it breaks in, but never breaks down. The retention is as solid as ever, but it is softer and better looking.

Same as the wallet... everything's still secure and it ages wonderfully.

Both the wallet and the holster carry like they aren't there.

Now I gotta get something from you to carry this Leatherman in!

I'm nobody and I don't know crap from shinola, but one small piece of advice I offer to anyone in this thread is to take a Stop the Bleed course and add an IFAK or, at minimum, a good tourniquet to your carry. You probably won't ever use it, but if you do you can save a life.
I haven’t taken a “Stop the Bleed” course but I do carry 3 first aid kits in varying sizes which includes tourniquets in my truck.

RFID blocking Chinese leather wallet
house keys on a KEY-BAK with steel chain
car key with remote and Wenger Swiss Clipper
Pentel EnerGel aluminum pen
Victorinox Midnight Manager
91mm Victorinox SAK with scissors (usually Explorer or Ranger)
two-compartment plastic pill case with pills
microfiber cleaning cloths for my Henry Kissinger glasses
wristwatch (nowadays mostly Seiko SNE109 with steel bracelet, and a photo for you wristwatch people)
sne107-2-jpg.641871

wedding ring (copy of Victoria & Albert Museum's kitsch posey ring inscribed "Vous et nul autre")
hair pick
iPhone
Whole Foods small reusable shopping bag (mine is green, says "Peace" and has the Bird) with phone charger, cables, power bank, ear buds, and three books.

Edited update 7/14/23:

Pentel Energel aluminum pen's ink cartridge lasted 5 months of light use (no letter writing or journaling). Amazon sells 10 replacement cartridges for $5.92. I will try writing a letter by hand lest I forget how, and then (I suppose) photographing and emailing it.

-Leather work gloves, broken in and durable back left pocke
-English bridal leather belt, thick and strong.
-Ball cap , worn almost everywhere

-Jacket ,hoodie or heavy shirt
-Bandana, shemagh
-Boots, heavy outdoor boots
-Water bottle, stainless steel insulated usually in holder w/cup underneath

In my area less than half of men carry a knife even among construction, trades. They all are never 5 feet from a smart phone. They usually have some EDC stuff in their car but not on their person. Most are deer hunters and many fish and shoot when time permits but have strayed far from the readiness of past generations. My late father always carried a knife and lighter, my nephew that I raised also carries a knife, lighter and gloves as well; he is in his 20's .

I'm retired, so I can keep it simple:
ALOX SAK, lfp
Traditional or modern folder main blade, rfp
Burts Bees chap stick, rfp
Big blue snot rag, right hip pocket
Watch

If I'm going for a walk or into town, I'll add:
Glock 19
Wallet
Cell phone
Keys

If I leave my house / yard I have

Knife or two ( one for the sheeple)

Flashlight x 2- small aaa that can be held in the mouth so free hands up close and a “ I really need to see” light

Wallet with cards and 100 dollars cash

Keys

Glock 19

Depends on what I'm doing that day, but I will go with work day,
I have a full proper tool bag with it all in when travelling but when I get there I get the basics always in my pockets.
Boots
Jeans or combat work pants loads of pockets lol and a belt
T shirts maybe a hoodie
Tobacco in a tin
Zippo lighter
Wallet
Keys got way to many
Small coast aaa torch
Backo adjustable spanner
10 mm spanner and an 8mm
Backo grips
Electrical screw driver some bit peaces and a mini wrachet backo
Coldsteel counterpoint as sheepie friendly as I am going to be lol plus, I work out door and a lot of climbing ladders and stuff so coldsteel makes amazing folders for tough work,
Main reason I go for it over other makes and models is the grips are amazing any weather hot or cold, wet, sweaty, dry
One handed opening is a deal braker for what I want in a folder in my job
The pocket clip is handy but the lanyard hole so I can tie it to my wrist don't wanna drop it and hit some one but most of my hand tools have lanyard holes one ones I've drilled so I can tie to my wrist
the aus 10 is good and easy to sharpen
Triad lock speaks for it's self
I think
