An interesting one...

Glennbad:

Don't hate me for bidding on lobster knives, I like them too. I only have three though, two pearls and a cracked ice. Sorry my camera is busted or I'd share them, but my favorite is a Schrade Walden that came in a fitted little leather case with a brass snap. It's an 877 and I paid a premium for it. The other one is an 876, the cracked ice. My last one is smaller Schrade Cut Co pearl with no scissors.

They are probably not true lobsters, but more manicure knives, all have files and pen blades, two have scissors. I admired yours in the collection. The pearl is really a gorgeous handle material. Not as many people bid on these little guys. The girls oogle them, especially the Mother of Pearl.

I see these in Case, and others. Once I saw a dandy that was a Cattaraugus, but it sailed past the $75.00 dollar mark well after I quit.

Most of the Schrades I see are advertising knives, but the one I have in the leather case is not.

Saw your one last night. Nice price on that one.

I would never hate anyone for bidding on any knives. That's ebay. To the victor go the spoils. There will be other knives...

As much as I want to win every auction, I know I won't, but if I lose, I would rather lose to a knife lover that will take care of these knives.

MINI RANT - I realize that ebay is an open marketplace and all, but it ticks me off when I get outbid by someone that is an ebay seller, and I know that they will just turn around and sell it themselves, thus inflating the price even more. I don't begrudge people from trying to make a buck, but I buy knives and have no intention of reselling them. But I guess that's just business...

I agree with that. I have acquired quite a few "extra" Schrade knives in the process of learning about Schrades, and building my collection. As a result those knives will probably go up for auction one of these days. That wasn't my original intent. When I buy hardware store finds, those are intended for future resale, or trade for something I need.

Additionally, I may not bid as avidly if there are folks I know in the auction, but if it is I nice piece, and I would like to own it, I'm bidding on it.

Hey glenn I finally got one of these with a couple of others too around $7.00 bucks I think I cant remember but it seemed pretty cheap. I figured you let me slide on this one, -Joel

Heck, Joel....I can't get them all! Besides, some of them get a little pricey, so I have to let the wallet cool down some.

Nice catch...
