An interesting question

I find it very confusing when people refer to historical pattern welded items as damascus.
 
I find it confusing that people speak about things that supposedly existed centuries ago as if they themselves were there. They do not cite their scientific sources, and thus cannot be considered any more credible than any other similar assertion; they are but opinions. If anyone has a significant reference for their opinion, please state it here so that we can judge for ourselves. Sorry, but I do not believe everything I hear or read. YMMV.
