More like Vet and rookie! Or we could've just left it the way is was so if you were deserving of + feeback you got it and it wasn't expected in return just because someone wanted to get their points up! By the way I love your avatar here's a pic of Kirby.

I'm sure there are many that could use the help with the new itrader.

This does not replace the GBU. But I can't see how 2 ways of viewing feedback can hurt either.

We pretty much know most that sell since we have a close room and seperate exchange for Busse. So we may not need it for Busse's but it should help in other areas on exchange.

So what is "new". Newer than you ? No offense intended in the slightest by the way.
To me its just people put them selves in a position to be burned. Ill never get burned (woodknocking here) cause I spend enough time WATCHING to know who is reliable. I am not gullible enough to buy ANYTHING from someone who is is:
a)newer than me AND wants me to send $ first(if longer than me I expect to send payment first)
b)associated with ebay in any way(not that I wont deal with you but its with extreme suspicion)
c)not a contributer
d)lots of other reasons
Also I never need something bad enough to take a highly questionable risk. I have plenty of knives. Missing out on one will bum me out but Id rather that than get burned completely.Then what. Nobody can help you here.Dont even bother. This isnt the real world. The best I can do is show up at someones house and demand compensation. Good luck there without jail time(or worse). I know me. Not worth the risk. Itrader cant help you once youve been screwed.Surveilance and communication are your only friends.
 
How often do people buying/selling on the Busse sub forum get burned?

Anyone keep track? Recent examples?
 
just because they added itrader doesn't mean we give up doing it the way we always have. Dought I will ever use it to check someone out, I don't need it at all.

Our room and sale area are nothing like flebay, and the itrade won't affect it one bit. How could it unless you just give up on the methods we have used.

We PM each other, have the GBU, Stay In The Same Room Here:thumbup:, talk on the phone some, meet at Blade and other shows, etc..
So this place will never be anything even close to the bay in any regard.

Besides itrader ain't going no where, so why even worry about it.

True but one of the things that really bothers me is that like fleabay people expect you to leave them positive feedback just because they left it for you so they can get their point count up, for me that is one of the main issues. Belive me I've been through the chicklet system that we briefly had and I could see it was going to blow up and sure enough there was enough abuse that it did and was removed. Like I've already said why do we need it when we have GBU.

I agree we don't need it. I won't use it to check anyone, but don't think it will hurt though.

But I was not around when the chicklet system was around, so you do have more insight in this. If the chicklet syetem had problems then you may be right in thinking the same will happen with itrader. Lets just hope it doesn't cause problems.

As I said, I'm with you that it is not really needed here

Very good point. I consider myself new as the spring blossoms.I have been on this forum 7-8 mnths or so. Im new and know it.I spent alot of time reading and staying quiet.Im in for the long haul though. I do see some folks around that are hog sellers bragging(or at least referencing) about their ebay status like that means something. And they have only been members of BF for like a month.To me that is a turn off. In the exchange rules it clearly states anyone with the intention of buying and selling for profit is a dealer. Apparently this is ignored. When i see " not at the BCS/Busse get it here" for + whatever(not your cost and only two days later) then you are a dealer.. You have ten of them and are selling them a week after they leave the storefront for a profit. You are a dealer. And you want me to "see" your ebay profile. And you have a high itrader ?BIG turnoff. And these cats have itraders of like 50. So? You are a wolf in sheaps clothing. Sloagans and koolaid stains dont hide it from me. I know who those folks are. That is one thing that turns me away from itrader. Most of these cats are "HOGS" too.Officially licenced and all. The fleabayers in disguise.Im not here to make a profit or impress anybody. I LOVE BUSSES.I USE INFI every day. Thats why Im here. #s mean nothing. Sorry for the rant and Im sure Ill take heat but thats my 2 cents. This is FRI for me(resturant industry) so Im drinking a little (sangria 2night). excuse my english.Good night to all.

BTW, I've never sold one for a profit. I have some itrader feedback because I get some in that I just don't like or need money, so I sell them at cost. I've even lost money on a couple. I also buy off the exchange and have been left feedback.

If I had a knife for years and needed to sell it I may make a profit one day, but that is not why I buy any knife.

So please don't think just because someone has several itrader's that they are being a Dealer.

Hey I just thought of something, you can look at there sales thread in itrader and see if they've been flipping for a quick profit:p

Sounds like something I once said when I first got here! It didn't take me long to figure out that just because someone buys and sells a lot of knives and yes, even makes a profit on them, they are not dealers. I keep searching for knives I like real well, most get sold, but I'm glad I had them. Some I made money on, and some I lost money on. This is what this hobby is about for me (I'm sure I'm not alone).
Its ok if you want to buy knives and sell them for the same or less than you paid for them, and its ok if I want to buy knives and sell them for the same or less or more than I paid for them.

ive been burned.

paypal sent. busse never received.

search "bussefan" in the gbu for details. i was trusting, as per usual with the exchange. unfortunately i should not have been.

that one experience has not tainted my participation since.

such is the "law of tangents".

ive had probably hundreds of transactions since i have been a member. my itrader number is nowhere near that.

the flaw is that, as bravado states, old transactions will generally not be looked up. it is time intensive and a general pita.

there are inherent growing pains with this new system, but i suspect that in time, we will all get used to it and accept it for what it is.



and i have a feedback score of 12, but 13 total positive feedbacks. ??????

If the same person leaves feedback more than once only one will show on your score. It will show they left feedback, but it won't change the number.

Have no idea why???

I understand. I dont believe that itrader says you are a dealer.It does seem to play into the hands of those that are. I just was ranting. Forgive me if I came accross as accusational at all.Really.The ones i was speaking about wont be speaking up.They spend most of there time over at the exchange and probably arent even reading this. Guess I was just blowing some steam.And yes I guess this thread isnt about this at all. Sorry for the hijack.
 
Be cautious. Things are not always what they appear. There have been a couple of folks that I was certain were a dealer de facto. I was wrong. (Wouldn't be the first time - just ask my wife.) While it may seem someone only spends time on the Exchange to list a blade, there may be extenuating circumstances and they are very much involved in the forum but just not posting often - due to those same circumstances.

There are many, many, many Busse sub-forum threads about what we do and do not like about the "dealers," more commonly here "flippers."

ITrader is just another tool in the arsenal of "do I trust this person with my INFI/cash." So is searching TGB&U. One other way used to be the Hog status: if someone had been here long enough to make it to Blade, etc., then they were probably invested enough in the community to be trusted. Conditionally, another may be time spent here.

Here's how I see it when making a trade/sell/purchase. If I am wary of someone, it is typically because of one of the following:

1) You're new... very new. Sorry, I'm gonna be cautious about trusting you with my cash or INFI.

2) You're a nut. Who might that be? They may have thousands of posts, they may have been here for umpteen years, they may be a HOG (or iHog,) they might even have hundreds :eek: of positive iTrades.

Either way... still a *$@& nut.

You'll be the one on TGB&U knee-jerk screaming if the blade is one day later than you expected, maybe taking the persona too seriously, or flipping your lid because there is a "typical" Busse manufacturing characteristic that you perceive as some huge flaw that you should have been informed about beforehand. You're the one who gets buyer's remorse that you spent $500 on a blade and now look for some reason, any reason, to blame the seller and get out of it. In general, you'll behave like a nut.

There's great people here... even Bravado. ;) (I wuv u, man!) There's also folks who, at first glance, would fit the criteria of being great. High posts, longevity, high iTrade, HOG, etc.

I say to you,

Judge ye not, the Hog by the numbers! Judge him by his character! He of poor character will out himself in time.
