hello all, a customer of mine, (at my bicycle shop) has a 13 year old son who he and his wife homeschools. Meisha, (the son) is VERY interested in knives and is cobbling them together in their garage, using an angle grinder and a bench grinder.

So Michael, (the father) knows how interested I am in knives, and has seen a couple I've made, and he asked me if he could pay me to tutor his son in knife making. I told him 'no', there is no way that he could pay me to do that, I just do not know enough about knife making to be paid to teach someone how to go about it.

I told him that if he were willing to invest in equipment, then I would gladly volunteer my time to helping to nurture his kid's interest in making knives, and to learn myself, at the same time. He seems willing to spend some money on the appropriate equipment, so what I'm doing here is to cast around and see if anyone has a proper second hand grinder that they might be interested in getting rid of for a fair price. He'll need a bunch of other things, like a drill press, hand files, measuring tools etc. Y'know, knife shop type stuff.

So, if you have some equipment you're looking to sell, drop me a line at lorien(@)bladeworks.ca.

he can go the "grinder in a box" and find a used motor or even the sears 2x42 which many have used and still do. He can get a $99 drill press at lowes. For the sears 2x42 and a small drill press he could be workin for $250.

by the way, Michael is a business and marketing consultant and is willing to trade his services for equipment, just thought I'd put it out there.
