EDIT:
fenix lights do have a saftey feature on their lights, just turn the back nob 10 or 12 degrees and the light wont come on.

Well, I was sitting down with the laddy last night watching a movie. We were about 45 or 50 minutes into it, and I had progressivly been feeling a slight burning sensation, it got worse and worse and I finally realised that I was getting burnd.
I got up and noticed my Fenix TK10 was on, so I went to grap it out of my left pocket and I burnt my fingers!
I couldn't believe it, the thing was so hot, like uneral hot. It must have been on from the time I sat down, but knowing this light ets that hot has me worried. now to be fair I was sitting on it, and there was no circulation of air around it, but still.

I would have takin' pictures, but the burn was more less on my ass, and I didn't want to show taht on the net.:D

Thank you for not posting pics!

Sorry you got burned, That must be a helluva bright light. I don't own any good flashlights so I can't help you figure out if thats normal or not.

Whoa! That is crazy. At least it didn't explode/vent (read somewhere that it happened to someone's P1D)...then you might have had a cut or hole on your ass instead of a burn...or lithium all over the place. Reminds me to be careful when i pick up one of those.

I feel your pain!!!

Really...I do.

It happened to me too, only with a UK 4AA light.
I was at work,in a meeting, when that sucker mysteriously switched on.
They didn't know I could move so fast:o.

I gotta admit, this changes my look on these super lights, I word to the wise, check your lights when you sit down.
I know I never had this happen with a mini mag, but then again I wanted bright, and I got it.

For people who dont know about the light, I out puts 225 lumens, crazy bright!:D

That happened to me with my Fenix P2D on Turbo mode. Fortunately I noticed it before it actually burned me, but it got rather hot!

Glad you spared us a pic of your butt  I have a stream light that has burned me once... you learned a lesson(not a pocket carry, get a sheath) and be glad you did not fart....might not of caught fire but amplifies the stink factor LOL!:D Glad to hear your ok:D:thumbup:

I notice that with my Sure-fires too. They get very hot, which probably accounts for the short bulb life. But they sure do put out a lot of light! When I pack them, I always put a piece of thin plastic between the battery and the switch. But then, I do that with all my battery powered items that get packed either into backpacks or suitcases. Little strip of flexible plastic from a pop bottle, folded into a 90° bend so it's easy to remove.

I don't own any of these super flashlights but a regular household lightbulb will get hot enough to burn you too. All my flashlights are LED. I just prefer them.

The light he mentioned (Fenix TK10) is an LED. The heat wasn't coming from the bulb, it was coming from the lithium batteries. He may not realize it, but he was probably minutes away from an explosion. Lithium batteries will overheat if left on too long, and then "vent" violently as either the case ruptures or the end caps blow off, and what vents is hydrogen gas that generally ignites as it vents causing an explosion followed by a rather large flame. To make it worse, the smoke that results from the flame is highly toxic (a guy on one of the flashlight forums was hospitalized for weeks after inhaling it by accident). Searth youtube for "lithium battery explosion".

Crazy! Were you at least saved from seeing some chick flick the better half picked out?
:D:D:D:D:D

I remember seeing a pic or video of some guy frying an egg over one of those big maglites, I had to use one when I worked at the jail, and one night I got a great idea to use a styrofoam cup as a diffuser during a formal count. The cup started to melt after a few seconds, and I burned my finger. I let out a yelp and woke up a room full of inmates.
Ah, the memories.

Oh trust me, I realized it!:D

I had taken it out side and took the batteries out of it. I let it set for a bit, it had somewhat of an odd smell, but the batteries were fine, and so was the light.
Its like the frog in cool water thing, I just didnt realize it was from my light and it was the last thing I was expecting it to do. It is an LED btw.

Speeking of this, im going to e-mail fenix and tellem they should put a saftey device in their lights, something to keep the light off, kinda like the lock on a leek.

I was just so amazed at what happend, I wonder if I was using this light for the 1.5 hours its supposed to be able to run if it would heat up like this. I have a feeling it got that hot because of where it was. (I magine sitting on the couch with pillows around you and a light in you left pocket)

I guess Ill have to start using the sheath it came with. Which is nice, I was just cleaning off the belt a bit.

:D:D:D:D:D

That was why I didnt through the light out, saved me from a bad movie, but I think Ill keep it for such occasions that arise again.:D

Damn, that sucks. Good idea about contacting Fenix, they listen
What's the right way to burn your leg? I tried it with a lawnmower once; didn't turn out so nicely.

Well, I did contact fenix, and I never even thought, but all you have to do is turn the back nob about 12 degrees and the light wont come on, I just got ahead of my self and never thought about it.
