So... I was talking with my husband last night and he pointed out that I seem to have a tendancy to randomly drag threads all over the map in comparison to the topic. I usually think what I am saying has some relevance to the information preceeding me, but in retrospect, I can see where it might appear otherwise.

I am just curious if you all feel I should be much more careful about that sort of thing. Seriously you won't offend me with the truth. I would prefer to know if I am doing something wrong so I can correct it before it becomes an issue.

If ya feel too uncomfortable correcting me in public then feel free to do it via PM. I want to be a welcome addition to this forum so please let me know if there is anything I need to clean up.

Your a welcome addition to this forum, I don't care if you lick windows.

Personally I think a little thread drift keeps things lively and moving. It's funny how some threads can completely jump the track and end up on another planet. Take the bawanna bowie review thread, we visited Toyota and US made cars and all over the place. The good threads always find their way back home to the original topic and nobody gets hurt.

I'm probably more guilty of jacking threads than you or anyone else. My fingers type as randomly as my head, toss in the little people talking and singing and the world can be a confusing place.

I want to be an addition too, welcome would be good, but tolerated is close enough.

Oh and Olga (one of the little people) said to say Hi!

this thread is far too full of class and composure I refuse to take part any longer.

I'm coming out as "that guy who doesn't bring his garbage can back from the curb for two days".

Not sorry, nope.

I cant tell you how many times i had to scroll up and check to see if im in the Cantina! If you go to blade forums root or home and check how many posts between the different manufacturers I think HI has considerably more traffic than most. The more people that see these knives and their history and all the good craftsmen and folks surrounding them then the better off the company would be. Least thats the way I see it. It also makes it harder for moderators I would think just because of the sheer volume of subject matter. I try to follow the rules but sometimes have to rely on the edit button. Glad thats there or would have walked the plank a long time ago. Karda comes to mind everytime I say something that might not be right so better to go back and edit out or not post something that I think will end up off topic or is testing the rules. Last thing I want to do is make more work for the moderators. General respect for each other and an attitude that we all have something good to feed off each other just like your doing Shavru is what makes this place so attractive to me. Theres people here I would trust more than some ive worked with and known for decades! Good intentions and knowing the rules helps greatly. Ramble on! Sing my song! Ramble on! OK theres my ramble!

yeah its really the best natured forum I have ever been a part of, though I did just finally join the vikingethno thanks to snow pointing out i was ignoring how to join :D--- I love HI and its forums, its where the deals are and you guys have pretty much told me everything I know about knife care--- cleaning ,sharpening etc .

I merely looked at them lots before , now I have gotten more and more interested in the metallurgy and the history, this forum basically turned me into a antique swords collector

YAY! OK sounds like hubby is a member of some forums that are just too stuffy. LOL. Seriously I just don't want to cause any of the Mods extra effort OR take away any focus from the great people and products of HI, so I will maybe be a little more cautious about making sure about the cantina vs main HI forum. I just find the conversations very interesting and i am learning lots so I will probably keep close to how I am going now then. Just being respectful of the folks that are here and the Mods who monitor the board, but enjoying the chance to be a part of such fun discussions.

Oh, and Bawanna! Tell Olga and the rest Hi from me.

Hey Shavru,
I find your posts concise, well communicated and to the point. You really don't drift as much as I am sure I do.

Besides the drifty-navigation here is what makes this place so enjoyable for me. I have found so much more interesting information and been able to understand more where folks are coming from.

Thanks for asking, everythings AOK here.

:)

I am probably one of the worst for going off topic now that you got me thinking of it,love me some kukri though,i read back weeks in the archives in both sections of hi to see what I missed, and Gehazi talking bout Vikings, I recently got caught up on my Vikings show on history channel, they used a kukri to behead some sacrificial humans to their gods, looked like a kukri to me,now I want a bearded Viking axe to go with my kukri, lol.

So does anyone else here lick windows.

I only inhabit two forums, lucky for all the others but have popped into a few. And there are some that are really ran as a tight ship. Stuffy was an excellent description. Slightest off topic veer and you get a hand slap or banned. I'm a mod on the other forum I visit which I've been involved in for several years and there's lots of thread drift over there. Strangely well not so strangely I find myself checking here first. We've allowed politics to get a foothold over there and that can really get tempers and danders up, let me tell ya, mine especially.
Glad we avoid that here.
Remember registered users don't get PM's or email access here. I just figured that out trying to send a message to shavru.

Reg. user don't get pm's, but the do have email. Shavru likely has to enable it in her profile. It is set to off by default.

Well that's a cool thing. I didn't know that. Everybody enable yourselves.

You can also still leave visitor messages for registered users on their profile page.

I licked windows pretty much the entire time I was in college, its why I did not get any degrees
