An old muskrat.

Jackknife. Another great story, appreciate you taking the time to write it and thanks for sharing. One more vote for the book, I read theses over and over and like no other read you take me to places of how life should be. If I remember someone (you?) once said a lot of this life style is still available we just need to stop, enjoy and help each other. Stopped in town the other day and an elderly couple had a cart full of garden cloth and plants and were having a hard time trying to get off the curb, to the back of their small pickup. I thought of you, grabbed the cart, loaded the truck and they were amazed. You were correct slow down and help each other. Thanks for a great lesson.

stockdog, you just made my day.

We can buy a fancy car, that can get t-boned at the next intersection. We can go into hock for the big home, that can be forclosed on if we loose our job through downsizing or sickness. But in the end, all we really have is each other.

It's the people that count, not things.

In Canada, it was called a '49 Fargo but it was identical to this Dodge. Mine was lighter blue, but otherwise the same.

And there were some beautiful rainbow trout cleaned off that tailgate in 1970 - I can still taste them, panfried in cornmeal and butter!
Thanks for bringing me back to a wonderful, simpler time Carl!!

That was a wonderful story. Fine tuned in the detail.
I have been working hard in my backyard for a few days not looking here and now found this story while resting my back. Thank you.

Thank you for the story. Made me remember when we'd catch a few perch and fry them in a skillet w/butter right on shore. Guess I'll have to add a Muskrat to my wish-list.
