SOLD

This is actually made out of a leaf from a 1956 Willys Jeep, used in the the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia for farming and hunting.

I really enjoy making knives like this from good old steel with history.

The blade length is right at 5" and the handle scales are green canvas micarta. All fittings are stainless steel. The sheath is kydex, pre-drilled for a tek-loc and multiple carry options.

Lots of folks have tek-locs but if you want the knife and do not have one, let me know and I will show you where to order one.

SOLD - delivered USPS Priority and insured. PayPal add 3%. International deliveries considered.

First to post "I'll take it" gets it.

cmd,
Where is the balance point and what is the blade and edge grind like? Interestingly simple and looks very comfortable!

Thanks,
Bill

Thanks Bill, it does feel nice and comfortable.

The balance point on this one is half way between the larger single pin in the handle and the two smaller pins.

The blade grind is slightly convexed, really just flat ground then rounded a little. The edge grind is flat and was finished with a sharpmaker on the 30 side then stropped.

A friend of mine made an "Iron Mistress" Bowie out of a Jeep leaf spring in 1955. The last I knew it was still cutting 40+ years later.

Sorry I didnt mean to hijack your thread, i am just looking to get into knife making but dont have the tools to do heat treating and stuff, only shaping and stuff.

No problem. You can find a lot more helpful info over in Shop Talk though.

Now, who wants to buy this knife?

I can't believe that hasn't sold yet! Its a great shape and design, looks very well made, and has an interesting history to boot. If I was a knife buyer instead of a knife maker, I'd be all over that one. I just love slim blades. Great knife CMD.

Chris, if you have a slip sheath floating around that would fit, let me know. I'll be happy to pay extra for it.

Chris,
Received today. What a beauty! Thanks for enclosing the story about it's background too. I haven't decided how this one will be used, but worked hard for the past 50 years, I'm sure mind spending the remainder of it's days being used lightly around the kitchen or workshop.

I look forward to seeing more of your work!
