An Open Challenge...

You really can't go wrong with an Endura. I remember buying mine thinking: "this knife is a bit ugly but practical looking, what the hell." The truth is it's a great deal for the dollar and unlike some I really like the lightweight FRN handle.

Having said that, when you feel like spending a little more money the Hogue Ex-01 Is the finest production folder I've found so far. It impresses the hell out of me.

My edc is a native and it's easily my favorite folder. Congratulations on getting 2 great knives for the price of one good one.

I second the kershaw rake or the Junkyard dog 2. both of them are big, capable knives. they will also hold a good edge. both have good belly and will be reasonably easy to sharpen.

This might be a little more than you want to invest, but you should check out Bud Nealy,s work.
I have his APPLACHIAN TRAIL model & it has a great multi carry system (MCS II) also his X-CELL model looks good to me also. look him up he makes a great knife, belive me!!

I don't get the hype about the Endura. I've owned an Endura 2, 3, 4 and a FFG G-10 4... I sold or traded them all. The shape is wierd, the blade bevel is very steep, and most of them had very bad vertical blade play which doesn't normally bother me.

I'd say go for a Benchmade Griptilian. I own 3 of them right now (S30V Ritter, D2, and a Mini in 154CM) and love to carry and use them. They are smooth opening, easy on the hands, tough, and have an excellent blade shape for everyday cutting chores. It's one of those knives that you can tell was well designed and thoroughly thought out.

another plus for the griptillian is that most base exchange's have them in the sporting goods. I personally like the zt350 alot better its tough and well made but not so big it pulls your pants down like its big brother the 300s.

take it easy

How about 4 Ontario Rat-1's? Good blade length, solid lock up, feels good in hand. Fantastic value!

I'll second that! I've got two Hogue EX-01s one G-10 and one aluminum handle both are great knives. I've converted the G-10 handle one to Auto I got it up on Youtube if anybody is interested in looking.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2nFojtkGKQ
