I just posted the remainder of my stabilized Ancient Bog Oak in the store.
These blocks were cut from a log that was carbon dated to be 3400 years old +/- 50 years. About 3400 years ago the tree died and fell into a river in the Ukraine. While the tree was buried in the sediment the wood was absorbing minerals from the sediment. That is what gives this wood the dark coloring and metallic luster. The coloring in this wood can show a change from light to dark when the light hits from different angles.
The blocks were stabilized by K&G Stabilizing so you know it was done right.
A copy of the carbon dating report will be included with each block.
