ancient kauri

Has anyone made knife handles from ancient kauri wood and, if so, how did it work out and how did you finish it?

Yup, staggered Kauri with African blackwood. Finished to 400, coated with Tung Oil then sanded to 600, buffed out with white compound. Has a really deep look to it.
