Sal and Guys, how many FULLY SERRATED Yellow Catchermen were produced? Was it a large run, or was it small in number, therefore making that particular one "rare" as it were? I have one in black, but have heard a yellow was also produced at some time. Any details? Thanks!

I've asked that question on a couple of occasions and I didn't get any answers either. I did a little investigating with a couple of dealers I know and one of them told me that most of the yellow Catchermans for the USA market were made from about 1994 to 1997.

There weren't a great deal of yellow CAtchermans made at all from what I can tell. Now I have heard they were still making them over in Japan for a while but I think they have even ceased that production from what I recently heard.

The Catcherman is one really neat fillet knife and it is extremely versatile. PRICE was probably it's biggest downfall because most of your wal-mart refugees would never pay $40 + for a fillet knife when they can get one at rip-mart for $4**. All I had to do was to use one for a couple of months and I quickly realized that the knife was well worth the money they asked. It is even a great all purpose kitchen knife for doing all sorts of food preparation. I kind of look for them to bring back the Catcherman ( or a knife kind of like it) in the super corrosion resistant H-1 blade steel. Most of the Spyders made with H-1 have been really decent sellers and it wouldn't surprise me if they brought it back with an H-1 blade. If not I bet that they are going to come out with another model of fillet knife in H-1.

If you find out anything else about them feel free to e-mail or PM me. It's been a favorite USER model of mine for a long time. JD

I had four of them many years ago that I bought from SMKW for a blowout price of $4.99 each! SMKW, (Smokey Mountain Knife Works), was the place to buy discontinued Spyderco models back in the day.

Before Spydercos became what they are now as collectibles, SMKW was their dumping grounds for discontinued models.

I bought several mini Dyads, Catchermans, (both black and yellow scales), and many other now super collectible models from them for "give away" prices.

I offered those Catchermans for sale here and folks were fighting over them! Funny, because I couldn't give away the Dyads :)!
