And for the next compression lock knife...?

... I'd love to see a US-produced Stretch with a compression lock! I've been lusting after the Stretch's blade shape lately, but have only not pulled the trigger because it's a lock-back, and I'm spoiled by modern (aka: one-handed) knives and their flickable opening and gravity-drop closing.

Think about how great a Para2 would be with a blade shape option, essentially. I'd pay Para2 prices all day for S30V, G10, compression lock and that sweet "Golden Colorado..." tag on the blade. Shouldn't be too hard to work something else into the line up, eh?

Any other takers?

cheers,

This may be old news to some, but Spyderco is officially releasing a Paramilitary 3 which will be a PM2 scaled down to have a blade length less than 3" for those who are restricted to knives with blades <3" in their locale. So that might technically be the "next" comp lock knife. However, if I could choose, a Southard flipper with a comp lock would be sweet. JMO

I second the Millie with a Compression Lock. This is my most wanted larger knife.

Well, considering we've already seen a production prototype I'm gonna go ahead and say the reborn Lil Temperance is the next comp lock folder.

That said, a comp lock Stretch would be pretty sweet.

I also would be intrigued to see a comp lock military.

A comp lock Sage will arrive sooner or later. Sal said. Of course it won't be from Golden. It'll be Taichung made. My 5 Taichung Spydies are impeccably made so I'm happy 'bout that.

Sure looking fwd to the Minuteman too.

Definitely would get a stretch with compression lock. Always liked the looks of the stretch and it seems it would be a outstanding EDC, but just dont like the back lock.

Count me out. I'll admit I'd be happier if Spyderco had shrunk the Stretch II back to the "original recipe" SS/Kraton size, rather than making it even bigger than the CF/FRN/NG versions, but I'd rather have it the way it is than with a wrong handed lock.

I'm all over a compression lock Sage.

Great model, love the ergos!

The Minuteman will be interesting. Will have to get one in hand first.

I'm with you on both the Sage and the Minuteman.
Sal said they're definitely going to do the compression lock Sage.
We just don't know when...

I own a PM2 and I really like the compression lock but prefer my EDC knives to be smaller so the Minuteman (3" PM2) and a sage with a compression lock are on my buy list as soon as they come out. I'd welcome other options with the compression lock.

The Stretch is completely flickable and easy to operate 1 handed.

Why is the mid/back-lock not considered "modern"? (Sounds like an outlook I had on knives like 15 years ago when I got my first CRKT M16, lol.)
Then, I realized how nice back locks can be. ;)

That said, I'd never argue against a version with the Compression-lock.

I think the Stretch (mine is the gray FRN, Superblue version) is pretty close to perfect, but yeah if it were technically possible I'd consider a comp lock version, or a comp lock knife with the same basic dimensions, handle to blade proportions and weight to be the ultimate folder. Meanwhile I pretty much alternate between a Para 2 and a Stretch, with occasional guest appearances from a Caly 3.5.

It's also for people like me, who prefer ~3" blades in my =<5.5" locale.
