And for the next compression lock knife...?

All I know is that the Compression Lock on my PM2 has performed well without any hiccups (issues) on tasks which several of my other knives featuring normal liner locks has failed. It practically changed my views on liner locks in general.

I think the Stretch (mine is the gray FRN, Superblue version) is pretty close to perfect, but yeah if it were technically possible I'd consider a comp lock version, or a comp lock knife with the same basic dimensions, handle to blade proportions and weight to be the ultimate folder. Meanwhile I pretty much alternate between a Para 2 and a Stretch, with occasional guest appearances from a Caly 3.5.

Prime choices and excellent taste! :)
Those are three of my favorites to carry as well.

The Stretch is completely flickable and easy to operate 1 handed.

Good to hear, and thanks - it's on the short list for my next purchase!

And I'll certainly have to check out the PM3/Minuteman when its released.

thanks for the info e'erbody.

How about a compression lock:

Manix 2

Dodo

Tuff

Titanium frame compression lock Southard Flipper. Yeah buddy sign me up!!

I honestly would love to see a Pacific Salt H1 with a PM2 configuration (g-10 handle, Compression lock). Ofcourse, this will offset the knife weight (becoming more heavier than it currently is), but it would be neat to own one.

EDIT: I just realized that you would probably need to make the locking mechanism and the frame/liner out of H1 Steel as well since it kinda defeats the purpose of owning a folder which features rust proof blade but rest of the knife can rust (which limits its capability/usage as a knife that stands out since you can dive with it etc.). This means it will most likely affect the production costs and its final price point. Oh well, it seemed great for a minute or two lol.

Given how soft H1 Steel could potentially be, I'd imagine they'd use titanium. But the end result would be the same—increase base costs and final MSRP. There was a discussion similar to this on a rust-proof Military somewhere a few months ago (though the conversation has been going on a long time).

Either way, I'd also love to see a PM2/Military in full rust-proof garb.

based on my Delicas and my experience with other Spydercos backlocks, all of them are able to be one-handed opened and closed. I'm not sure why there's this perception that lockbacks aren't one-handed knives. looking forward to getting the HAP40 Stretch when it finally hits shelves.

SpeedHoles, I think I remember from one of your posts that you are a cyclist... Me too. Kind of adjusts your priorities--weight, function, ergonomics above all else!

The Shaman is in the queue to be produced. It is described as a Native that is stretched to the size of a Manix 2 and it has a compression lock.

Maybe Sal / Eric will surprise us all with a brand new model with the compression lock. Only request is to make it affordable - less than $130 & with G10 handles.

It's discontinued now, but a Junior fits the bill.

I knew it could be done. There were a lot of guys saying a compression lock and flipper couldn't work.

Yep, totally do-able. Some people asked about it a couple years ago on the Spyderco forum and most people could see it working, mechanically.

Brad said that he is one of only 3 non-Spyderco makers licensed to use the compression lock, and he is one of 2 of them using them in flippers. They have slightly different implementations of the lock, but the difficulty was generally in blade size and adapting it to non-thumb opening deployment methods.

Judding by those videos, I'd surmise that the next Southard collaboration to be a compression lock flipper (probably mini-Hanan).

Smock also uses the Compression-lock, but most designs I've seen added a button through the scale/handle (which I do not personally like since it may be very easily unintentionally disengaged).

Can't wait for the Shaman and Lil' Temp 2. :D

I'd like to see them offer something with a compression lock with a flat-saber grind, and a stronger tip. Kinda like how the original Gen 4 Endura was modified from the Gen 3. (until they gave the Gen 4 the ffg treatment).

It's possible the next ATR may be near what you're looking for.
