And here is the HI Falcata. Pix.

I don't like to do a lot of testing on something like Anton's Falcata. This is his rig and if he wants to test it he can -- and probably will. The appearance was fine, nice fit and good job on the handle and bolster -- very good. Finish was magic stone mirror and my old file did not want to cut the edge so it is hardened up to the 58-59 Rc I'd guess. And the scabbard was about as nice as you'll see anywhere. But it needs that red rouge cleaned off and a few coats of oil put on.

I certainly will test it - I've been thinking about a comparison between a 25" Sirupati, a Tarwar and the Falcata, just to see where it is located in the "there might be better choppers but those things cut like mad" spectrum.
Now, after I have moved to a place where casual playing with my favorite toys is more difficult than it was at my old place, I guess I only need a completely free weekend, lots of bamboo and seagrass mats, some 4x4's, assorted plywood, empty soda bottles and maybe an old fender and some parts of different animals that are suitable for human consumption after the testing procedure, to have lots of fun, a nice barbeque and a general idea about the behaviour of those edgy things.

Sanu did a great job on the falcata. Bill, did he get the blade thickness the way Anton wanted? That might explain why its a bit heavier than expected.

I'll also be waiting for Anton's review (I only hope I can stand the suspense).

Well Uncle,
If and when these do into production, I want to be in there. This is a splendid looking example of a Falcata. That with a plain sheath. What a chopper!! Sanu sure did a nice job. Congrats, Anton on a great looking piece!:D

Bill - if you can get the weight down to 2.25-2.5 lbs I'm in for at least one maybe two. Perhaps reduce the overall sive to 25" and thin the blade? Looks great though!

This is:

1. A shameless BTTT just 'cuz I don't want to miss the sign-on list which will surely follow for us Falcata-less sorts.

2. A note of appreciation for Uncle for the super fast arrival of my first GRS. Being somewhat of a newbie, I don't know what a GRS is supposed to be, but if my experience is any indication it means "Ang Khola with no fullers that goes through 2 x 4's in one swipe and makes me glad my shin wasn't in the trajectory". UBDOTD 'cuz of a dent on the buttcap? You've got way better eyes than I do Uncle.

3. A chance to see if the new avatar is working. If it is, thanks go to EdgeHawk of the Firehawk crowd at www.slpeng.com. Props to Edge.

Thanx
Hawk

I thought I would BTTT this post so it would be on the same page as the sign up thread, and also so everyone could refresh their memories on how sweet this blade looks!

That is a very beautiful sword indeed. In looking at the second picture of the detail on the scabbard, I was wondering, but is'nt the carving that of the Hindu God Ganesh?? If so, then I think that sword has many secrets to teach it's wielder.. In Hinduism, Ganesh is considered the patron of learning..
