Back around the very end of August my cardiologist told me if I kept on going like I was that I was going to go into renal failure and that I desperately needed to lose some weight. He also told me that my lips looked dusky and that he was going to send me to pulmanory rehab, needless to say *That* got mine *And* Barbie's attention in a hurry!!!!
About that time one of the trainers at our health club had already talked me into going back into the therapy pool so I had already started that as well as watching what I ate because I had hit the 299 mark on our digital scales and I was determined to never reach 300 pounds!!!!
:grumpy:
I haven't started the pulmanory rehab proper yet as it's a six week program of breathing, walking, free weight exercise, and stretching to build strength and stamina.
By not being in the program proper yet means I'm getting a headstart because we've already talked to the dietician and one of the physical therapists that's going to see to my training.
She added a great deal to the exercises I was already doing in the therapy pool.
I also had my ear's stapled in order to help me lose weight. I got on the scales when we got back from water therapy today and I weighed in at 259.2 pounds!!!!!!!
That's 39.8 pounds I've lost since September 2nd and Tuesday we walked a mile and half in an hour and ten minutes because I didn't have to stop and rest every 100 feet or so!!!!
My protyme and chem 8 blood tests are looking excellent and I feel better than I have in a mighty long time.
Also when we first started in the therapy pool Barbie would have to help me get undressed and dressed in a utility room by the pool. Two weeks ago I told Barbie I wanted to try it on my own so I went in and showered and dressed myself, even getting my own sock's on by myself, something else I haven't been able to do by myself in the last four years at least!!!!
Methinks I won't be going into renal failure anytime soon.
I guess I wasn't ready to give up yet after all.

Oh Yeah, the other good news is that Barbie has been eating the same foods I have as well as going to therapy with me. Barbie is now down to within a couple of pounds of when we first got together some almost 20 years ago.
Needless to say I am very proud of her!!!!
