Well, not completely. But different enough.
It's been a while since I had a Special Factory Order (SFO) done, notwithstanding the team effort of producing the 2010 Forum knife. These knives are NOT for sale! They are pre-production samples, intended to finalize the details. The production will be identical, as these are closer than I dared hope.
This one fit in with GEC's recent production of a similar pattern, with some subtle alterations. They kindly, and with some frustration, put some special handles on these for me. It cost them a lot of wasted bone to get it right.
I admire two things about this project; Their willingness to look back at the old way things were done, and their persistence and ultimate success.
So what we have is a nice Serpentine, double-end Jack that some call a Moose.
The Jigged Bone handles owe a debt of gratitude to the efforts of George Schrade RIP, as well as the skills of the current maker. Modelled after Schrade's beautiful Peachseed bone, the bone curves nicely around to the liners, and the jigging follows that same curve!!!!
You only saw this in antique and custom knives - until now!! This gives the knives a comfortable, rounded cross section. The rest of the details; Spring ends rounded down to meet the blades to minimize the Underbladed look you see on some knives. The usual UN-X-LD decor; threaded, pinched, slant bolsters; perfectly fitted, pinned shield. 1095 steel. The bone is dyed a nice deep red "wine" color.
I can't leave these knives on the desk - I keep picking them up and looking at them. The only thing I regret is, it will be a while before I get my order - mid-Spring I hear.
Feast your eyes!!

WOW Charlie, that's a beauty!! Upon seeing that fine piece of cutlery I've officially started my "Charlie's SFO fund":D

Everything about that knife compliments each other. Even the slant on the bolsters compliment to pins. They look like someone might have owned it for 50 years. Very nice jigging. I'm excited about it.

Glad you all appreciate GEC's efforts. I just hope they can weather this darn financial doldrums, and remain a part of our history.
There aren't too many companies left that actually care about traditional knives like we do!
In respect for our rules here, I will not answer pricing or availability questions. My sole purpose is to show what is possible, and who's doing it! I hope this falls in line with our usual discussions about the various cutleries.

That is a thing of beauty Charlie. How many are you making? A serpentine. You've piqued my obsession of stockmans. The Bullwinkle etch is cool too. The lines on that are just incredible.

Charlie, I really like the jigging and that deep
dark red color! Looks very Vintage! Has a nice
classy look to it! The slanted bolsters are lovely as well!
I really like those!! GEC really out did themselves!!
Allot of thought and work in those things!
CONGRATS.

Very nice. Thank you for sharing.
That jigging is amazing.

Those are really special Charlie!

Sorry if I missed it in your OP but the 66 is the 3 1/2" frame, correct?

very nice, I just love GEC. They sure make a damn fine pocket knife :). Great design choice and I really really like the scales

Wow- excellent bone there, Charlie! Looks like GEC set the ol' Wayback machine for the roaring '20s to accomplish that jigging.

I hope your ideas take root and spread to some of their other offerings in the future.

Here's the original Bullwinkle J. Moose #66 for comparison:

You know, it's a smaller Moose, and the blades are proportioned quite usefully. I might have to carry one of these safe queens. The spear will do almost anything a pen will do, and the Clip has decent width and belly. And it's easy to carry because of its compact size. For every day use it floats my boat!
I'd like to see it in some other traditionally jigged bone also.

That one is calling me like a mermaid, luring me shipwreck on the non-Buck rocks.....
