And So It Begins...An Update

really awesome Brian. good stuff. and congrats.

thanks man!

I’ve seen those bridges many times but never quite like this, beautiful.

Exactly...I'm looking forward to seeing them again, in a whole new light!

Thanks guys. I have been working on this project in digital for the last 11 years, and pretty seriously for the last 5 years. I have several I plan to print off and framing as I can get to them. I only have so much wall space available at Stone Cup, but I will have prints on the walls of my studio as well. These are some of the ones I am working my way through. Please pardon the mess I am making of the watermarking, I am still trying to get used to doing it.

And this one where I caught the last light of a lightning bolt fading out. I think it made for a nice reflection shot.

Also love the Tolkien inspired photos you post I feel like I've been dropped off into the shire everytime!

Thank you! There are more of those to come, and I think it will be better this time around as some of them will be shot by sunlight rather than all being shot by candle light in a dark hole. Some will still be shot by candle light of course, I love the effect, but others will be day-lit. The only thing now is that with a couple of exceptions I have had to sell off the knives I was using in the Tolkien projects just to fund life and single parenthood with a broken leg this past year, and then the last hold outs that I really hated parting with to take my photographic art to the next level, which has been a life long dream for me. So, now I have to see what scenes I can put together with the couple of Fiddleback Forge knives i have left, and I have to try to acquire more in the next few months.

I'm sorry to hear you had to sell off some of the knives you use for photos but I look forward to seeing your work in the future!

Eh, I've had to sell a few things over the years. The cool thing is that so many of Andy's models and handle configurations suit the project, that's what inspired it to begin with, it shouldn't be that difficult to redo some things. LOL, if anyone wants to help a little with funding and has a need for a a less fancy more utilitarian kind of knife for more abusive types of uses I have a couple of my Tibo knives for sale on the exchange right now. It says one left available after selling the other two, but I actually have two left. I was using one for some promotional photos but I will definitely sell it too if anyone wants it.

Way to go Brian! Your prints are amazing! I can only imagine how great it feels to sit back and watch people enjoy your work. I look forward to seeing more of it. Best wishes on your future work as well!

Thanks Greg!! It is a pretty amazing feeling! Days later it still feels surreal to me. There are apparently, from the phone call I just got from a friend at Stone Cup, a few perspective buyers considering the Tempest print right now, and possibly a couple of others. I really need to sort out funding for more printing, hopefully paychecks that have been delayed by a company changing hands are sorted out now, and that income will be here soon...finger crossed.

Traveling to Atlanta I had an opportunity to briefly stop by this hip coffee shop in Chattanooga. It was a treat seeing a (small) available space to stick a pushpin on their ‘where are you from’ map. Also walked on the adjacent pedestrian bridge that’s in some of Mist’s photos. Very impressed with the north shore area. For those that visit this city, I recommended it. Interesting to see where Mist’s pics were shot from. Kind of like a behind the scenes tour. I pictured him out in the marshy weeds, bushcrafting through the brush, holding a Fiddleback between his teeth while he gets the perfect photo. : ) But in reality it’s a gorgeous park!

Mist, you have some prime real-estate in the front entrance of stone cup, and your art is stunning. My available time there was very limited as I was traveling with others that had their own agendas. However, if you make it to Blade I certainly look forward to hearing more about Chattanooga and your art endeavors.

Cool post Jason! Thank you for your compliments!! Glad you got to see the area. It really is a gorgeous park, in the day time especially. Nights get different. With the random muggings at gun point and a couple of murders there last year, the park closing at 11 am, and most of my long exposure shots being taken between midnight and four in the morning, it comes with it's own little adrenaline highs at times. Some of them delayed. The shot looking at the Aquarium through the love locks was shot on a short pier in Renaissance Park there on Valentines Night. Then on July 16 a woman named Kathy Hardy was murdered on that pier during a robbery. Now the park rangers patrol more often and they, for whatever reason, check the piers for locks now. They cut them off any time somebody puts one there now. That picture is actually one of the smaller ones of a three shot series; one sofa sized print and two smaller pieces of the aquarium with the red lights. It reminds me of an EKG monitor so I named it "HeartBeats" as a reminder of just how temporary we are and how short life can be. But yeah there are reasons that I edc my Tibo and/or my Esquire more often than any larger knives. At night getting those photos of the city becomes more of a covert operation with me having to maneuver around the muggers, cops, and gangs oh my :) Fitting pic of the Tibo by the way. That area is where a lot of tests of size and carry options were tested, Stone Cup was where I sat and drew out what I wanted, and I have had one on me every time i have been there for the last 6 years. Thanks for joining my little club :)

Good for you Brian. Those shots are gorgeous.
