I just got my Spyderco Manix from the UPS man (I got next day shipping, im an instant gratification person), it is possibly the coolest knife i've ever held. It is everything I have ever looked for in a knife. Only thing is the size, its good for hiking and such, but not for EDC. So I just ordered a D4 FRN. I think im getting addicted to spyderco, a good addiction :)

I have to say the number of people willing to pay for UPS Next-Day-Air is absolutely staggering to me. Is there such a thing as a cutlery emergency?

People go to great lengths to find the best price for something then blow it all on a big ship charge.

Not a criticism at all, just a very curious observation.

Incidentally, that's a terrific knife to start a collection with. You'll certainly be hooked, although you might be left with a set of extremely high standards for everything else you buy.

I am glad to hear that you like it, I just ordered my first Spyderco earlier today, a Mini Manix. $35.00 for next day delivery, a little to steep for me, so I won't get it till Tuesday or Wednesday. I may need the Manix to keep the Mini company. Enjoy!

Congrats profall and Bfla Barry on your new spydies. That manix is great for a hiking knife. I carry the mini-Manix in my trekking pack...too big for my pocket.

Have fun and good luck on your next purchases...cause I bet there will be more.
:)

I think the Manix is perfect for EDC, but I find my 710 that I just got to be a little on the small side:D . Many people can't understand the use for a huge knife as an EDC, I can find many uses.

Hmmm...
I have my Manix in my left front pocket and my Mini-Manix in my right back pocket (among a host of others). I don't think that either is too big for EDC. :D

A manix was my first Spyderco in a long time. Congrats on the purchases. I found that I had to switch the clip to tip up carry. When it was tip down, the clip bit into the wrong part of my hand. Awesome knife though, can't say enough good things about it. It'll handle almost anything. Gets a nice reaction from the sheeple too. It's probably about time to switch it back to my edc. :D
