My cousin Etta Sue who IIRC was 6 years younger than me and the closest thing I ever had too a sister was diagnosed with cancer just about a year ago and underwent the usual gamut of treatment, chemo and radiation, with very positive and hopeful results and a great report in that the cancer was no longer visible. Over the past year she has been like one of those super rubber balls with her ups and downs and finally after about a 5 week period of getting steadily worse and worse every day her body gave out and she walked west early afternoon yesterday, Monday the 28th.
As bad as it hurt us to see her laying there sleeping and drawing each breath as if it was her last Barbie and I finally did make it to see her Sunday and we both knew then she was going to depart on her Star Journey by the end of this week, if not sooner.
Her biggest wish this last week was, "To lay down and not wake up again." and it was my wish for her too as I know up close and personal just how she felt as I have had the very same wish many, many, times myself...
I take comfort in knowing that Sue is no longer in that severe agony and I'm both grateful and happy that she didn't have to linger any longer.
If y'all will when you can please send up Smoke and Prayers for Sue's immediate family. Sue and her husband Leroy celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary just this last summer.
Sue still had her mother, 2 sons, 2 brothers, and multiple grand and great grand kids as well as a few of us cousins.
Sue will be missed by us all!
