And the award for best value in a folder goes to...

any body out there who likes rough rider stuff? they look great and quality seems very good for the price.iwould realy appreciate some feedback .thanks guys.

Yes, I have a few of them. They are indeed pretty decent, definitely worth the money. Of course, not on the level of a Great Eastern Cutlery product, but really quite ok for the price of a CD.

>>Dont you think you should use it for awhile first? I still havent found any folder better than the spyderco centofaunte III period.

Are you saying you haven't found any folder or any budget folder better than the Centofante III? I really like Spyderco and the Centofante series is great, but there are folders out there that would chew up the Centofante and spit it out.

Well, what the Centofante does really well (besides looking elegant) is SLICING, because it has a thin blade, thinner than the blade most American folders. In fact, it slices as well as a humble Opinel, and we all know that Opinels are hard to beat in that respect. So, I can well imagine that for Winbag's usage it will be difficult to find a better folder.

For me, best value would be, if you can still find them, the awesome Browning Ice Storm with curved handle. These are made to a very high standard by Mcusta, and in fact are very similar to their $90+ Stingray series, except for the handle. The VG10 blade is exactly the same.

I will admit that it is a great budget folder, but to even suggest that there is no folder that is better is a very bold statement.

The RAM is an awesome knife. I've actually been looking into picking up one of the original RAMs made by Grant and Gavin.

For the money when i purchased them. This of course is based on what normal people do with there folders, not the movie high speed low drag type of individuals that live vicariously through knives in their imaginations. Not saying this is you of course.

If you double your funds and go $80 and I've even seen it for $70, you can get a 154CM/G-10 Manix 2, you will not find a better folder than this at this price point, well maybe a gripper, but I still think Manix 2 is unbeatable..IMO... But in terms of Kershaw, the G-10 Needs Work is awesome as well...

I don't think I follow: 2X the price puts it in an entirely different category.

I totally agree that the Manix 2 completely RULES its price point above ALL other knives, but you're comparing an $80 knife to a $40 one.

If you double your funds again you can get practically any production Benchmade or Spyderco. Double them once more and you can get a Sebenza. None of which is relevant:)

I'm not being a jerk---I'm just saying I don't understand the comparison between two knives at such different price points---unless maybe you mean price/value ratio---then maybe I'm on board.

For me the best value was a G10 Byrd Cara Cara. I've owned 2, waved them, and gave them away for Bday presents. At a hair over $20, I might pick up a few more for Christmas presents.

I agree...and the FRN version offers a lot more value!

i just got the black boker trance for $30, i feel this is a great deal for a great knife

Okay then, I agree that for the money any of the Spyderco Cenotofante series does give you a huge bang for your buck. I especially like the Vesuvius.

The small KaBar Dozier's are simply outstanding - the modern equivalent or maybe even better than the classic Gerber LST. Actually - if you allow for inflation - these blow the spots off the LST of yore.

I honestly think Victorinox has the most value for the dollar. Excellent fit and finish, on highly functional tools, and usually don't pay more than $30 for one. Also wouldn't argue with the Buck 110 and Spyderco Delica and Endura fans.

+1:thumbup: Victorinox is still years ahead of the competition IMO

Value judgments are personal, keep that in mind. But its a great deal for the money for sure.

I bought a Vic scientist for $40AUD NIB and it's kicked every other knife out of my pocket. SAK's will do anything you want them to do.
