and the winner is......

It makes sense that it is only a work rest as it goes in the work rest receiver.

Our winner, David, replied to a post about 6 months ago and mentioned using tubing as a way to make my current work rest have the ability to change angles. I looked at different tubing (DOM stuff) and kept it in the back of my head. A friend gave me an old harbor freight drill press a few weeks ago and I have been wondering what to do with it. I decided to take the column and table to play with making a multi-position work rest. I need to cut some relief into the table in a few areas to get closer to the belt, but I think it will do several things I want. I made two arms for it, a straight and a drop arm. I have some other tweaks for it, but you will get the idea. Take a look and thanks for playing.

Erik

We have a winner. "Holla, David! Good job!" That's exactly what it is.
Jon, you also get the martini award for calling me Ryan. Ha!

LOL, I can't believe I did that, ERIK! I think Ryan and I had bee pm'ing about something else right before I saw this thread of yours:o:D I'd say I was sorry but hell, Ryan is pretty damned awesome himself so it would be hard for you to be offended:p

Congrats to the winner, and as far as the actual in and out twisty turny thing.......awesome job, ERIK!! That setup looks sweet. I can picture that being helpful in many ways. Always love seeing your projects come together. Really great work, ERIK.

When do I get my martini? Oh, nevermind.......I think I'll go make on myself!

Well, your last logo had one, so I figured it was appropriate! I was laughing when I read it because I know you consider Ryan and me in your freshman class. You two are clearly better and more established, but I built my grinder so I have to flaunt it, with all of it's crazy attachments, lol.

Flaunt away buddy!! You should, it's some good looking machinery:thumbup:

BTW, I still have some of those Martini Jonny Mac stencils........

Very nice rotating/ sliding in and out thingy, id use the heck out of it!!!

Don't lose those stencils. You will be able to do an anniversary/commemorative/limited edition batch some day.

That's thinkin with your dipstick! Very ingenious and practical. My only question is about the table. Won't the grinding sparks wreck havoc on it?

It's phenolic, so it can handle some abuse. I won't do any major hogging on it (no promises), but I have considered what heat transfer could do. If I melt it, I will post. I'm up front about those types of things. I will go all steel if necessary, but I think I will be OK. Thanks for the reply.
