And then there's this

I think both Ethan and Tooj have memberships that accept PM's.

Seriously though, as cool as I think a folder would be, I don't think that you're going about "submitting" it properly. If Ethan and/or Tooj acknowledge this design you have here, and a few months later they release a folder of their own design that may have been in the works for months prior to your posting of this, or perhaps not actually patented or trademarked (or whatever the hell they do) with a date that succeeds your first design post, what is to stop you from saying "Hey, that was MY idea and they stole it?" After all, you aren't really donating this design to KA-BAR, are you? I have no doubt that the idea of a folder has come up during talks of future knife designs. How could it not? Hell, they probably have also THOUGHT about a sword, a saw, a chainsaw and a pool skimmer... not to mention a line of Becker Cookware all featuring the distinctive handle design.

I'm no big city lawyer, but I'm guessing dollars to donuts that if they comment on this design, it sets them or you up for a fairly litigious situation. KA-BAR does not seem to have solicited any design requests form the public, and I'm guessing that no NDA has been signed between you and them. You need those kinds of things for a deal like this, right?

I think I'm coming off as a major douche here and I apologize for that sincerely, but my point is, don't expect a comment from them on something that wasn't solicited by them to begin with. If you are serious about your designs, I would contact KA-BAR directly.

The folder design is very cool. I totally dig it.

If the slabs were a bit thinner I would seriously buy the knife pictured in your CAD drawing.
Steel should be D2 I think

there's at least three separate threads on this now, including this new one.

so, really, that's probably enough. i'm sure THEY have seen it by now. how could they not? in their world, they probably can't acknowledge that though.

at the cost of robbing the other threads, perhaps some toning this down? yes?

thanks

Bladite

I'll stop chanting... :foot:

shiny threads always capture my attention too... :(

I say keep it 1095CV, carbon folders a rare bird, and I like carbon steel. Thats my $.02. Moose

I could design a Becker toaster, once I figure out how to make it work in the field. The toaster wouldn't be the real problem: carrying the generator for it would be.;)

Thanks, Game. I think we need a nice folder, too. I have done exhaustive research on the subject, and I've determined that folders are much handier things to have in the woods than toasters.:D
toaster doesn't need a generator - just half a dozen ferrocium or mish metal rods on a side so that every time you push the toaster button down, your bread is showered on both sides with sparks.
the more times you push, the more cooked it gets.
ignore the fine metal particles stuck in the bread afterwords - they're just added trace minerals...

I would rather have 1095 also and I am not even going to look for the cent sign.

Bump, or this one. Wanna keep fresh on everyone's mind. Moose

Don't believe the hype. Edges are overrated! :p

Seriously though, wouldn't mind the lack of an edge on a purchased prototype of uebercoolness.
Would just buy an additional production Becker folder (with an edge). Maybe two or three as gifts.
