Title says it all...

511? Looks like a ScrapMandu to me. Great design and price. I might get one if I can come up with some funds.

Man I like the look of the blade. I picked up a couple of the Scrapper 5's, so I am coverd in this area, but SR 101 for this price....a bargain in my book.

I dont see many changes in this and the dumpster mutt. Sure, its sr101 but not diff enough for me to get one since I already have the dumpster mutt. If I didnt, I would get this one. I'll hold out for the bigger knife.

it's a fair bit different from the dumpster mutt. It's got the larger rat style handles instead of the slimmer older basic handle, it's 3/16" thick instead of 1/4", and it's sr101 instead of sr77 meaning it will hold it's edge longer and be less likely to dent/mash/roll. The biggest difference (if this is the case) may be in it's edge. The dumpster mutt is one of the rediculously overbuilt knives in the bussekin catalog, especially at the tip. If this rendition has a thinner tip and edge it will act like a totally different knife, like the difference between a BOSS jack proto and a BOSS jack LE. also, the distance between the hand and the edge is notably shorter making it a more compact design that wastes less space on the needless second guard.

This looks like a totally different knife than the dumpster mutt I had. More edge, thinner edge, less wasted space. Really all the things I complained about are fixed (though a choil is still there).

If the basic 6 were in this configuration I'd actually have a lot more interest in it. Just look at how much edge your losing for a second guard.

Good stuff David! No need to be a thin INFI snob.

exactly, that and theres no way i can afford INFI but SR-77 and SR-101 i can! ;) :D
but im happy its released, i was hoping to try out some SR-77 as i already have the RMD in SR-101. but for 89 bucks?? if i pass this up i'll be kicking myself.

i did hear that the basic 5 comes with a scrapavore is this true?

Wasn't expecting it to be sr101, pretty surprised by that.
Me too. More and more SR101 out of the Yard....

I believe Last Visible Canary is correct. If I remember correctly ( lots of new knives at BLADE) the 511 impressed me as a thinner seeming Ratmanduish sized slicer with a Scrapper 6 size handle. The Dumpster Mutt is a thick pry bar with a small compact handle and thats what some people love about it. This is nothing like that.

Does anyone have any insight on the "slightly convex saber grind"? Does that mean the edge itself will still be a V edge? Or will the edge be convex?

Dumpster Dan commented on it at the yard;
Could someone explain a slightly convex edge? I this looks nice though!

Instead of a pure flat grind I put a small degree of convex in the blade to add incremental strength. It contributes to increasing the performance to price ratio of the knife.

Does this help?

Dan
