Well, got myself a BK9 for Christmas... Birthday I'm thinking a BK24, hopefully in D2, and maybe a BK7? Im just starting to get into fixed blades, and really loving my bk9, fits the hand wonderfully! Maybe someday I can be an esteemed beckerhead! Any suggestions on what to get for my birthday in February? Thanks for enlightening me to these awesome knives!

Well you have the BK9 so that's good. Beyond that I would say one of the neck knives, which you already plan to get, and a BK16. A lot of folks would say get a 5 and a 15, I'm not going to say not to but I don't have either so I can't comment either way. The 7 is a nice blade but I've never found 7" blades to be of much use. 5" is more controllable, 9"+ works much better for the heavy stuff.

And if you don't have one already, get a Mora. Those things are cheap so you can just throw it in on your next purchase.

I would wait for the 7 now you have a 9. My next choice or top 4 would be in this order (and this is just a personal opinion)

1. Bk16 - excellent all round blade, great in the hand it just feels right.
2. Bk24 - awesome smaller blade you can edc, D2 steel with a stone wash finish. Smaller knife that will just about do it all and compliment your 9. Make sure you order the handles as well.
3. Bk15 - awesome camp/kitchen knife that slices beautifully.
4. Bk2 - will last you a lifetime and take you to the ends of earth and back, some people say the weight is a drawback, but I like it, nice and hefty.

Oh and I'm with Hoss on this one grab yourself a mora, the MG is a good start. I have three of them and they are razor sharp. The carbon bushcraft is also superb.

Standard answer - All of them! ;)

But, at least start with a Small, Medium, Large.

Small - BK24, already on your wish list.
Large - BK9, done.
Medium - a Tweener, BK15 or BK16.

Gotta have 5 and 15 too, especially the 15. ;)

I would second the purchase of a 16... but that depends on what your main uses will be.

The 16 would make a great pair with the 9, you'll have a large chopper/batoner and then the other for any type of small/light work.

The 16 is also great on its own if you're not needing to process a bunch of wood.

I don't use my 2 as much as my 16 and 9, but I like having it just in case the world ends and I need to chop my way out of a car or stab countless undead.

If we're talking about the next knife to pair up and use then I'd say a 16, or a 15. The 16 for just about all light duties. The 15 if you plan on doing any food prep at all. But, let's be honest here. You're asking what's next until you get it. Then it will be what's next after that, and so forth. So, if you're just collecting it doesn't matter which one you get next. Personally, I'd pair a 9 with a 16, a 4 with a 11/14/24, a 5 with a 15, a 2 stands alone, and a 10 stands alone. A 10 would be my next user/collected Becker.

Hmm, now I'm really thinking about a15, that would be GREAT for food prep, and I could use one of those... And I doubt I'll get the BK2 for a while, but just out if curiosity, what's the benefit of the lower grind? I believe that's reffered to as a saber grind, correct? But the 15 and 14 may be the ticket for this birthday...

Is there anyone who prefers the 11 over the 14? I haven't heard anything bad about the izula handle, but I guess I hadn't given the 11 much thought, but I'm not 21 yet either, so the bottle opener isn't as attractive to me as it may be to some lol

Correct. With Beckers, the saber grind is more robust, and generally takes more abuse than a full flat grind. I say "with Beckers," because most other top brands' saber grinds are not as good as the grind geometry of Beckers. We could talk about blade geometry for days. Just know that Beckers are among the best in the world in that category.

The 15 is the way to go if you need a user for anything food related. The 5 is also a phenomenal chef's knife (not a chef's blade design just a great knife for a chef to use). They make a great pair.

The 11 over 14/24 handles debate just comes down to personal preference. You really can't explain it to someone who hasn't handled an 11, or an ESEE Izula II. I like the handles on my son's 11, but I like the handles on my Izula I better than his Izula II. Seems picky, because it is. My advice would be to handle them before you buy them, or buy both, and sell the one you don't like.

I'd go with the 16 for sure and I'd order it from Coyle Outdoors. I hear great things about them!

A 9, 16 and 11/14/24 makes a formidable trio that will get you around quite nicely.

So, I've got a BK 24, with g10 izula scales, and a bk15 (on sale!) in the cart... But surprisingly, I'm below my budget that I have set, what else would you guys suggest? Get a 16 also? Or a 2? Or the 7 I had thought about before? With the 15 on sale I'm definitely going to get that..

I'd take the 2 over the 7 because you have a 9. The next up would be the 16

The 2, with the molded plastic sheath? Or the 22 with the nylon?

Depends if you feel like modifying it in any way. The molded plastic sheath needs the straps replaced right out of the box (mine snapped within a week of EDC). You can replace it with a tec lok and carry cross draw or scout. The 22's nylon you dont need to fool around with, and you can add an extra pouch too if you feel the need. Or you can go with option #3 and get one made :D Here is the dangler that I was lucky enough to win from a generous GAW from 710! Man is it comfortable!

Pick 1 from row 1, 1 from row 2 and 1 from row 3 and you'll have a great combination of three Becker knives that will carry you through almost any need.

1......BK9 or BK4
2......BK16 or BK17
3......BK11 or BK24

Of course just filling a need isn't what some of us are doing unless it is filling the need to have more than what you need and have a big supply just in case or just because you like 'em damn it.

Now I'm not saying you don't need a 2 'cause well, once you put a 2 in your hand you'll want it. And I'm not saying you don't need a 5 or a 7 or a 10 or a 12 or a 15 'cause well, just 'cause.

And I'm not saying you don't need a BK6 but if you find one that someone is selling for something less than a gazillion simoleons would you PM me and let me know so I can buy it. And don't forget to save up for a 21.

There, that about sums up what you should do. Have a great day.

You "need" a 16 and I would take a 10 over a 2.

I forgot to show you this earlier.

I'd recommend:

The 16 and the 11 since you have the 9 already. I have both the 11 with the G10 Izula scales and the 14 with the micarta scales. The 11 feels much better in my hand. I have medium sized hands and the 14 grip seems short and awkward compared to the 11 with scales.

I would also make a pitch for the 10. Great jack-of-all-trades blade and good paired with the 11 or 16 if you want to save some weight and don't need the chopping power of the 9. The 10 is lighter, slicier, and more nimble than the 2 in my opinion. YMMV.

You can't really go wrong buying Beckers and folks aren't joking when they say you'll end up with all of them anyway. ;-)
