Is it pay taxes or buy more leather? I decided to try something I had on hand already plus it was free. :D

I had done some heat treating a few months back for a fellow local bladesmith, Alan Warren http://www.alanwarrenknives.com/ Alan had asked for away to pay me back that wouldn't involve money and the idea of him making a sheath came up. I'd just kind of let slip away until Alan called me yesterday and he mentioned doing a sheath for me again so I took him up on the offer. He said he didn't even mind doing one for a big blade so that's what he will get. Alan makes a much nicer sheaths than I do so I'm looking forward to seeing what he comes up with. I'll be leaving in the morning for the Oregon Show and didn't want to take this big ole blade wrapped up in a blanky so I went with cardboard. I did use leather for the welt. Surprisingly it feels pretty sturdy.

Ray,
I know exactly what you mean about Alan's sheaths. Alan's table was next to my table at the OKCA show last April. He makes wonderful sheaths. I also, can't wait to see what he comes up with.

Unfortunately, I won't have a table at this years show. I haven't had enough free time to get out in the shop and make many knives. I have two knives that I'm working on for orders that I have, and it's all I can do to find time to work on them.

Good luck at the show! I'm going to try and find time to make the drive down to Eugene, but with the wife and I getting our house ready to sell, I probably won't find the time.

I have always loved your furniture it just looks so nice and flowie if thats a word.

I like the Idea , should be an attention getter . Good luck at the show and lets us know how it was .

Scott, I was wondering why you hadn't started a post about the show. I figured you were going to do it. Hope I get to see you over the weekend.

I went and took this sheath to the next level. I think you'll enjoy it.......

Ray  move over Paul Long..... put some brass tacks on it for a Chuck Burrows theme :p

I actually use a similar sheath thingy for blades after I hand rub them, too many times I've dropped a file or some other :barf: thing to scuff a blade up.

Duct tape sheath with fringe, thats teh ghey...

Awesome sword, or, er, "knife". I remember when you made it, cool WIP.

Now if you could only figure out how to tool duct tape and cardboard! Love the fringe... :D

Now thats a package every southerner would be proud to own. Isn't there anything duct tape can't do.
