I didn't get out for a hike on Sunday as planned, but did get out today to check up on a survey crew to make sure they were working. I figured the best vantage point would be on top of the highest peak to the north and above the work area.

I came in from the NE and hiked up the ridgeline to the top. About half way up I got a view of the survey crew to the south:

Finally made it to the top, 4100 metres above sea level:

and unpacked the essentials:

From my vantage point I was able to get a clear view of the survey crew for a couple of hours and monitor their progress, it was nice to see that they were infact working! Mission accomplished !

I have a few more photos, if I have time I'll post some more later !

Nice pics. WOW!! Nice Steel Heart.

That look like a great place for a geo cache.

Wow!!! I mean really really WOW!!! :D That one picture of the ASH-1 on top of the mountain is amazing....what a beautiful view! Wish I had been there to enjoy it. Good for you bro!

Doesn't look like there are too many Whitetails up there. I don't know, Yaks, maybe? :D

Nice knives! I'm especially likin' that Ratmandu. Beautiful pictures by the way!

Sorry to post again with nothing to add except NICE, but dang, I love the solitude of this shot...

Thank you!

Great pics! Out of curiosity, what was the temperature?

About ~9C at night, in the daytime ~15C in the shade, 20-25C in the sun. It's quite windy at these elevations in the open, I'd say a constant 20-30 km/h.

awesome pics. Did it scare you to risk loosing your knives on the trip?

There is a variety of deer here, but it's been hunted almost to extinction. Mostly small sustinence farming; cattle, llamas, alpaca, vicuna, sheep.

In the highlands the main crops are potato, corn, onion, and a bit of wheat.

There is a big problem with vicuna poaching here, it's endangered but there are some licenced farms - it's hair fibre is worth more than gold per ounce. A fellow geo was shot and killed here by vicuna poachers three years ago when the poachers robbed the tent camp...
