Andrew Demko Custom Arrived

That's so nice and what they really look like. I have a crappy camera compared to yours. Hey Ank, my knife's blade came with about a 50* angle on one side and 35* to 40* on the other side. It snags/tears paper in a couple of spots. I stropped the cr*p out of it last night but nothing.

I have a DMT Magna-guide that I sharpen my knives with. I use it or freehand with the Dia-folds. I have a Sharpmaker too but it would never set the profile without taking a month. What do you think I should shoot for about 40* inclusive edge? I'm not shooting for a paper thin edge but strong utility one.

It has to be done tonight as I hate having knife that's not shaving sharp. :)

Yes about 40 degrees inclusive would be perfect for that knife. :D

Do you have a belt grinder? I use a belt that has been worn down to approx 400 grit for re-profiling.

No CM, I don't but I was just going to ask what grit Ankerson suggested for the first one. I have "x-coarse 220 mesh, 60 micron" and "coarse 325 mesh, 45 micron" DMT diamond hones.

I wasn't which one to start with on CPM154.

X-Coarse to set the bevel only then move up from there, just take it slow. :)

Very nice and similar to mine except my blade is slightly shorter, although it looks identical shape-wise and I've got CF. Mine's not as heavy as I thought it would be but it's no lightweight.

I just got your email cutter17. Thanks for the reply man.

I finished the re-profile of the edge last night. It took almost 4 hours! According to literature with my magna-guide, my setting yielded 40* inclusive edge with a 1 inch high blade or 36* with a 2 inch high.

So w/o measuring it appears that I came in the middle at about 38 degree inclusive. Just guessing.

I'm waiting to take any pics until my Dia-paste arrives from K-Works. I only have some HA 2, 1 and .5 micron strop compounds which leave a very shiny edge when used after coming off the DMT xx-fine hone. Great working edges but not mirrors.

To the naked eye they look that way but under the slightest magnification or even turned at the right angle under bright light there's cloudiness and the last faint amount of a scratch pattern here and there.

It push cuts full slices of copy paper effortlessly now but I'm going to take this one and my XM-18 to that next level, which I think the Dia-paste will help me with.

Best thing is that by taking a lot of breaks and never breaking concentration - not a single nick or ding on that big pretty blade! :D

You guys have to stop posting these pics!! It's making me crazy:D! Andrew won't have mine done for quite a few months and this is killing me to look at these sweet pictures. Mine will have orange g-10; anybody have one in orange? Post pics if you do to hold me over.
