Hello All,
In case anyone is thinking about ordering items from Andrew's leather I thought I would pass on a bit about my experiences. I first met Mr. Andrews at the Blade Show last year. His work was very nice, and I've never met anyone else that worked with so many exotic skins. I was particularly taken with his Tigershark leather belts and his holster work seemed top notch. I thought about it for a month or so and finally at the end of June or maybe the first part of July I ordered a tigershark leather belt and a holster for my XD subcompact. It was a little disconcerting to only be able to reach Mr. Andrews on the phone since he apparently doesn't have an email address but hey some folks are like that. On his website it did say that he would not charge my credit card until he began work on my project and that it would be about three months before he began work. Fair enough. I put it out of sight and mind.
Fast forward to October. My credit card is charged. Oh frabjuous day! My belt and holster will soon be mine. A month passes. Well, sometimes it takes a while to do leatherwork, although he had the belts in stock at the blade show and how long does a holster take anyway? Another month passes. Another month passes. The end of December I give Mr. Andrews a call. Oh yep we are on it, I'm just finishing up the dying now. Great!
Another month passes. Another phone call. Oh yep almost done should have it in a couple of weeks. Another month passes. Finally the items show up at the end of February.
The items are just as advertised and absolutely top notch work for sure.
So, after a seven month wait (4 after my credit card was charged) the items are in hand and are beautiful.
Was it worth it? I don't know. I don't know what the experience is like with other makers... but after this one I'll try someone else out to compare. The items were good, but not so good that I can't help wondering if there isn't someone else just as good without that sort of wait time.
