Many of you might have seen my sorry assed posts recently about my BM941D2CF that I loaned out at a trade show only to get it back with the blade tore up from the yahoo I loaned it to cutting a live wire and arcing the blade. So I sent the knife to Benchmade with little hope that they could do much to restore the knife as the arc damage went quite deep into the blade. I also knew that this was NOT a warranty repair as it certainly wasn't Benchmade's fault.
A few days ago Angie called and we discussed my knife's damage. She was concerned because it was a 1 of 500 limited edition. Regrinding the damage out of the blade would leave it mis-shapen, yet replacing the blade (if they even had any more in D2) would leave the knife with no identity (no way to re-engrave the 1 of 500 status). I told her that this knife has become my favorite EDC and that it would likely never be resold so the number on the blade wasn't critical to me. She said that she'd advise me later as to if she could find another D2 blade and wha tteh cost might be.
Today the Big Brown Truck came while I was home working on a report and here's my 941D2CF! Surprise! It appears that Angie not only found a D2 blade for me, but replaced it at no charge! Now that's going above and beyond for a customer. So as far as I know, I know have an even more limited edition as this variant is not available without the extra blade markings (at least not yet).
Color me a very happy Benchmade owner.
