Angle grinder heat warped the handle.

I was using the angle grinder with a grinding disc on the handle area and got carried away and warped the end of the handle, it looks like a fish tail curve. Should i wait until i do the quenching to flatten it out or should i use a torch and straighten it out now? I took pictures of the knife but am not aloud to post attachments.

It sounds like you're before heat treat at this stage? If so, then I'd straighten now. I like to start HT'ing with as straight a blade possible.
 
Yes i only cut the blank out so far. This is why i really want a Beaumont kmg belt grinder. I can do a rough cut out then just grind the rest and have a bucket of water so i can keep the blade cool and from warping. I didn't know it got that hot, i probably took it out to change sides and it warped while it cooled changing it to the other side. If i would of let it cool in the vice, would it of still warped? I had the thing clamped down in my beefy wilton vice. I had welders gloves on while doing this so i couldn't feel the heat. What temperature should i heat the handle up to to straighten it out? What color temp should i look for before straightening? I don't have a wooden mallet, so i will be using a none rebounding rubber mallet. Hopefully it won't burn to much. Thanks for the help
 
Since this is still in the annealed state, you don't have to bother with heating, just bend the stuff. Lay flat on anvil (or anvil substitute) and straighten. Perhaps easiest would be to clamp in vise with a bit of a tool to clamp over end, and bend it by eyeball.

You can heat if you wish - won't hurt anything as you're pre-heat treat now. Heat to a dull red and bend away. I'm making the assumption this is a carbon steel blade? Not a SS blade?

As Stacy says, photos help, fill out your profile to show location. That helps if any knifemakers are anywhere around it's amazing how much help you can get locally.

Yes it is 1080 carbon steel. I will try bending it in the vise and if that doesn't work i will heat it up and bend it. Thanks for all your help.
 
Change your design a little bit and try using files to finish your profile and bevels. You would be amazed at how fast you can remove metal with files before you heat treat. To easy to screw up with an angle grinder in my opinion .
 
Awww, that's an easy bend to fix - I'll bet you've clamped in vise and got it straight now.

I will fix the bend tomorrow, just to tired right now. The little knife has a full flat grind and the plunge lines are messed up because i rushed. I did use metal files for the first one and made a filing jig from gough custom you tube channel. The bigger one was done with the angle grinder and metal files.

What you mean change the design and for what knife?
