Annealing after Plasma cutting- looking for an answer :)

Been a while since I've logged on. Just have a question for all you guys.
I have access to a cnc plasma cutter. I have been cutting out blanks and grinding away the heat affected zone. Since grinding away the HAZ is hard on equipment and sometimes changes the blade design due to over grinding, I am wondering if annealing afterwards would soften the HAZ and allow for normal hardening upon quenching?

I know this has been asked before but it seems that the thread always goes into talking about water jet, laser, costs of services and other things.

So will annealing soften the hardened edge to a workable state and will it allow for a normal hardening when ready to quench?

I'm am working with 1095 and O1.

thanks for the advice in advance all!

HAZ is more than just hardened, it is also carbon depleated. Leave about 1/16" for grind off. After cutting out, heat to 1250F and hold for 30 minutes or longer, oven cool to 900F, and water quench to soften and spheroidize the blanks.
